Das Jahr 1989 stand maßgeblich unter dem Einfluss der politischen Umwälzungen in den europäischen Ostblockstaaten, welche durch wachsenden Protest der Bevölkerung hervorgerufen wurden. Mit den ersten demokratischen Parlamentswahlen in Polen, dem Abbau der Grenzanlagen Ungarns zu Österreich ab Mai, der Grenzbefestigungen der Tschechoslowakei im Dezember und dem Fall der Berliner Mauer am 9. November 1989 kam es zur Öffnung des Eisernen Vorhangs. Dies leitete das Ende des Kalten Krieges ein und markierte das Ende des „kurzen 20. Jahrhunderts“. In China löste dagegen das Militär am 3. und 4. Juni 1989 die monatelange Besetzung des Platzes des himmlischen Friedens mit dem Tian’anmen-Massaker gewaltsam auf und unterband die Bestrebungen von Studenten nach weitergehender Öffnung der Gesellschaft und Demokratie.
Als Second Summer of Love (Zweiter Sommer der Liebe) bezeichnet man in Anlehnung an den Summer of Love die Sommer der Jahre 1988 und 1989, in denen die neue Musikrichtung Acid House im Vereinigten Königreich populär wurde. Parallel entwickelte sich die Rave-Kultur mit dem konzeptionellen Schwerpunkt auf ekstatischem Tanz und oftmals schnellem Wechsel der DJs. Zeitgleich wurde die „Partydroge“ Ecstasy immer populärer. Als Erkennungszeichen der Acid-House-Szene diente das Smiley-Symbol.
Zentren der Entwicklung waren Manchester mit dem Club Hacienda und London mit dem Club The Shoom.
Der Second Summer of Love wurde mehrmals musikalisch aufgegriffen, so zum Beispiel 1989 im gleichnamigen Musiktitel der Band Danny Wilson oder 2014 im ebenfalls gleichnamigen Stück der kanadischen Rockband Pink Mountaintops.

Bio:
Back in the early 1990s Duniz first discovered his love of electronic music.

Then, in the early 2000s, he released on the labels of Anthony Rother, Zombie Nation and the Stammheim legend Pierre.

After many more gigs and working in a club, he decided it was time to focus on his family and took some time off.

Now, as a solo artist, Duniz is focusing all his energy on his love of raw, hypnotic techno.
Together with Nadine Fehn and Marcel Huldt, he runs the Klangtrauma label.
In January 2025, he founded his new label Equal.
