Since April 28, Colombia entered into a national strike catalyzed by a new tax reform in the midst of a brutal economic and social crisis exacerbated by the pandemic. The government tried to shift the burden of tax collection back to the middle and lower classes. Parallel to the peaceful protests, there are organized groups of criminals using the protests to incite violence and even attacking other neighborhoods. The police and military forces executed hundreds of violent acts in the demonstrations and peaceful protests that still continue and that leave to date (8.05.2021) according to Human Rights International, 43 assassinations, 105 disappeared, 160 attacks medical missions, 160 detainees, 1330 wounded and 6 cases of sexual violence.

While this oppression is at its peak by the police and ESMAD, it is not new. Colombia is a country marked by inequality, corruption and systematic violence against the people through neoliberal policies, drug trafficking and elite mass media that manipulate and hide the truth. In a country where education and health are privileges, where opportunities are utopias and the future seems to be cancelled, people go out, people march, people are angry, people can't take it anymore. They want justice among the cases of police violence, the possibility to live with dignity (free education, accessible health system) and to live in a society in peace.

Aligned with this feeling, multiple collectives and agents of the Colombian and international culture and scene decided to unite and contribute with our art to help the victims of this oppressive government, to amplify and denounce the police barbarism and to raise our voice and resist through our art. SOS Colombia is a fist up, a cry that today becomes a collective action of musicians and visual artists presented in a compilation of techno and experimental music and also short documentaries that will expose to the world how an extreme right-wing government massacres and silences its people.

"Against the violations of human rights" , "In the absence and violence of the state. The people unite and self-manage" and "Dignity, Justice and Peace" will be the three parts of this compilation that will raise funds to give to several verified human rights organizations and self-managed initiatives that are working with the most affected populations of this crisis, that are holding the statistics of police violence and are supporting the invaluable work of the front lines in Cali, Bogota, Medellin.

Operation 4.0 aka Cat Hooper is a DJ, event founder & promoter. She has been heavily involved in the UK scene for many years performing under various aliases, thus giving space to explore a multitude of genres. 

Born into the rave era, along with djing she is also a radio host with a monthly show on Aaja radio and holds DJ residencies for both Overdrive and Somnus London. 

She is undefined by style, however heavily influenced by the 90’s: delving into the parameters between acid, hardcore, techno, EBM, electro, rave & trance. Her selections diversify and are ever adapting as she goes from enticing and enigmatic, to fast and furious and built for the dance floor.

Episode #122 belongs to a woman of many talents! Thildaa is a young artist who is not only known for her love of electronic music but for drawing! We present the podcast by the artist of the artwork for our first release ('MDS - Dark Reverb EP' [PT001]) which was released in January this year.

[BIO EN]:
Thildaa is a Polish artist of the young generation, whose life from an early age is subordinated to the art and photography that she creates herself. The multi-talented artist combines playing electronic music with the continuous improvement of drawing techniques, which show her visions and expressions in various forms. As in the art presented by her as a form of painting or drawing, she also uses music to sketch her next emotions during a live performance. She started her adventure with electronic music in 2017, when she discovered that the new performance gives her plenty of opportunities to surprise her audience and create an unprecedented atmosphere. She started her romance with electronics with electro music, which she was able to fan with different sounds in front of her audience, while maintaining the groove and atmosphere. Her willingness to overcome new challenges has become a daily reality over the past year. Thildaa presented a good, dynamic and extremely uncompromising style during each of her performances, which became a distinguishing feature of the young Polish artist. 

Her sets are, above all, tenacity in presenting material based on the latest releases of such labels as incl. BITE, Crusade, Voight-Kampff, Obscuur, Instrument Of Discipline, Green Fetish Records, Mainsime Records, Falsive Records or Askorn Records, which Thildaa describes as his main label inspirations. As befits a creative artist, her sets do not lack freshness and good narration, which is the result of a broad view of genres such as: EBM, Acid, Rave, Industrial Techno and the mixture of dirty and broken sounds that she first buys from her favorite producers such like: VSK, Swarm Intelligence, Crystal Geometry, Tommy Four Seven, Ansome, MILITIA, WNDRLST, Niki Istrefi, Duellist, Tyrant or OPERANT.

The vibrant title track opens the EP with sharp cymbals and a synth whose trippyness is underlined by a commanding hypnotic vocal, ordering the crowd to dance till dawn. Say Word follows up with the same high pace and catches the attention with stabbing, cut off vocals, fast beats and an epic melody. Rat’s piano skills take us on a hallucinatory journey with whirring atmospherics driven by the aim of reaching ecstasy on Rave Runner, before Involve Records label head Regal closes the EP with a remix, delivering what he’s best known for.
