New York DJ, producer and Maya Records founder Joeski returns to Crosstown Rebels in December. Jah Unite pays tribute to Joeski's long-running appreciation for Reggae dub with two tracks of stripped-back house with a roots twist.

Joeski explains why Jah Unite is a personal release. "Reggae dub has been a big influence on my sound. From my early days listening on the radio to the studio and laying down drums, it inspires a lot of the dub house and techno I create." The title track opens with minimal drums and a saxophone-led melody. Joeski stitches reggae vocals across the breakdown, evoking a gorgeous, sun-kissed soundscape. On In This Life, the producer layers snappy percussion with distant drum rolls and laidback keys while Reggae vocals wind through the atmosphere. An irresistible groove.

Brooklyn-born Joeski began his DJing journey in 1989, honing his craft throughout the 90s in some of the finest New York-based clubs like Limelight, Tunnel and The Roxy. Today, Joeski is an established producer, selector and boss of the long-running label Maya. He's released classic to contemporary sounds on labels like NRK, Ministry of Sound, Defected, Bedrock, Nervous, Cajual and KMS, further adding to his credibility as a critical talent in the house and techno realms. As a DJ, Joeski has performed across the Americas and Canada, building a loyal fanbase. Although he's been on the scene for over three decades, Joeski doesn't rest on his laurels. He constantly evolves his approach while staying grounded in the process. In other words, he's a real one.

Get Physical Music revisits Groove Armada's 2014 hit 'Rescue Me' and serves it up with a Roland Leesker edit as well as an all-new remix from DJ Island. 

'Rescue Me' was part of the iconic British dance duo's Stairwell Felony EP and has remained an underground favourite. The original is raw, deep and full of twists and turns from the frazzled melodies to the jazzy sax motifs. The house drums hit hard with splintered edges, while a 90s bassline brings the heady vibe as a classic soul vocal lights up a track that is always keeping you guessing. 

The excellent remix comes from DJ Island, one-half of Get Physical duo Monkey Safari and a long-time student of house music. His version is more tense and restyled with a tech house feel. The steamy vocals tease and please before the big drums drop and classic piano chords bring the colour to an emotive ride 

Roland Leesker's You Got To Dance Edit goes bigger still - the chords get more twisted, the drums are supersized and the crunchy hits burst out of the speakers to make an immediate impact. At the breakdown, things take a wonderful left turn with a trippy whistle and big chanting male vocals that take things to another level entirely. 

This is a trio of fresh house cuts all designed for slightly different moments in the night.

Paris’ Boogie Vice and South African Deep Aztec return to Get Physical with captivating new vocal house single 'Promises' featuring a remix from N-You-Up. 

Boogie Vice has been a regular part of disco and house charts on Beatport since emerging in 2014. He is a multi-faceted talent who has landed on Amine Edge & DANCE's Cuff label, Ed Banger and plenty more. He also has a fine working partnership with Deep Aztec, a live act, label owner and producer at the heart of the burgeoning South African scene. He has played alongside the likes of Black Coffee and Floyd Lavine and now stands out with a fresh signature sound. 

The pair's 'Promises' single is joyous and uplifting, with bouncy piano chords over a warm house beat. The arrangement is classy, the songwriting is sharp, and soul-infused vocals soar next to heartfelt melodies. It's the sort of track that brings big smiles and good times to any set. 

Papa Records man and French artist N-You-Up is a king of everything from funky edits to glossy disco and low-slung house. His brilliant dub strips things back to raw, swinging house drums with razor-sharp high hats. It's a backroom track to get crowds marching as the more subtle vocal brings the soul. 

After first releasing on this label back in January 2021, Boogie Vice & Deep Aztec make a welcome return with this superb new package.

David Mayer is a name to watch out for… having already impressed with his releases and remixes for Souvenir, Get Physical and Trapez, the young German really is a star on the rise. A varied cultural background has seen David reside in Norway, Lanzarote and his current home of Berlin, and his love of diversity and experimentation can also be heard in his music. He is also one of the founding members of the Keinemusik collective, and is currently enjoying the wave of support for his "Blank Sheets" track on their latest release. 

Whilst he loves to explore sounds and genres, Mayer's passion for funky, driving 4/4 beats clearly dominates his music and that is most evident in his debut ep for Paso Music. Our three original productions are lead by "Fortune", a wonderfully fat and wobbly cut with killer kick and twisted horn break. "Over Again" is rather devious. Its opening beats and vocal fool us with their warm funky edge, before David turns it on its head and delivers some tasty warped drug music. "Lo Done" is as the name suggests. Low down, sleazy deep grooves, with some added spice. 

Stepping up to remix "Fortune" is another of the Keinemusik clan, the seriously in form, &Me. His brand of driving tech house has seen him dominate the current sets of the biggest DJ names, and once again he serves up a healthy slice of heavy, sweaty, head-down fun. Dutch producer Onno gets to grips with another of David's tracks "Harun", and drops some super slick acid grooves. Both mixes complete a stunning package!
