Flug, aka Sebastian Lopez, has long been part of the fabric of underground techno with a signature sound that is deep, driving and atmospheric, ensuring that the Argentinian has crafted his own story across the globe. Following his track ‘In Control’ on Mutual Rytm’s ‘Federation Of Rytm IV’ compilation, he follows the likes of KiNK & Raredub and Deetron to make his appearance on sub-imprint, Mutual Rytm Raw, with his ‘Dew At Night’ EP featuring a rare rebuilt version of an unreleased sketch dating all the way back to 2009.

‘Dew At Night’ was unearthed while searching for another track among sessions from over a decade ago. After hearing it again, it sparked a new creative age to rebuild it from scratch, and while experimenting with synthesisers, the main arpeggio appeared. "At first it was hypnotic but harmonically repetitive; the groove and phrasing felt incredibly catchy, so I decided to push the harmony further and change some chords until I found the exact point where emotion and tension could coexist naturally.” Around that bright arp are darker, more raw percussive textures and drums that make for a great contrast and melancholic atmosphere that marries emotion with physical structure. "In my mind, the track was always conceived as a closing track - that moment when the darkness is still there, but the first light of the day starts to appear and the whole atmosphere changes.”

After hearing the original, label founder SHDW suggested the Argentinian should remix and reinterpret the record to complete the full EP, and so he steps out of his comfort zone across the remaining tracks, exploring different versions of his musical universe and showcasing all sides of his sound. First up is the ‘Dub Version’, which represents his contemporary sound - the melodic and emotional essence of the original track remains but is translated into a more hypnotic and club-oriented language. The ‘Instrumental Version’ is a brings more progressive-leaning sounds with piano, sax and live percussion textures that, says the artist, allowed him to "rediscover myself as a producer by using tools and influences gathered throughout my long journey in electronic music”. Closing the package, the digital-only ‘Raw Version’ strips away the melody and gets much more primal, introducing a tunnelling groove for when the dancefloor gets dark and moody.

With the second release on Vakuum, the label founder Confusion himself connects seamlessly to the previous release with his “Illumina EP”. VAKUUM002 features four driving yet immersive dancefloor-journeys. On the A-side, “X-Ray” opens with a drum heavy foundation that in tense moments is accented by playful and bright textures. The title track “Illumina” is built around a stand-out emotional storytelling which runs through the entire piece contrasting with an overall melancholic mood.

The flip side navigates to more rhythmic territories. “Luz” is built around stripped-back rolling drums, a repetitive hook and an uplifting and dense pad, while “Asix” carries metallic textural slices and strange atmospheres.

Next up on EvilGroove, Centeno returns with a full LP after making a couple V/A appearances, featuring two remixes from Paul Ritch’s alias, KOLO55, as well as one from EG alum Boyd Schidt. KOLO55’s Gravity Remix is the pick here, where you’ll find a peaktime stomper that’s thunderous and a bit sinister. Out on August 21st.

Closing Cryptic’s second vinyl release, “Talisman Remix” sees Kosaa & DLM revisit the collaboration between Gannein and Fran LF from a different angle. Using elements from the original track as raw material, the remix constructs a new identity through hypnotic grooves, minimal arrangements and distorted textures. Sweeping effects weave through the track like a series of ritualistic gestures, giving it a mysterious and constantly shifting character.

‘In Cycles’ inaugurates this new phase with the return of German producer Confusion, part of Mannheim’s Raserei crew, following his previous appearance on SK alongside Ebass.

Dark, brisk and propelled by momentum, the double EP moves through somber tonalities, layers of bleeps and shifting cadences, all held together by a distinctly sculptural arrangement. From its opening moments, driving low ends establish the foundations for a dense sonic landscape to develop. Textures gather and multiply around tight rhythmic structures: chased hi-hats cut through layers of organic frequencies, while alluring sub-basses sustain a constant sense of motion. On the B side, ‘Space’ disrupts familiar patterns of listening, creating an explosive tension between repetition and surprise. Moving into the third disc, high-pressure atmospherics give way to more scintillating, recursive intricacies, drawing the listener into a heads-down, eyes-shut state where minute alterations continually reshape the space around them. Towards its closing stretch, the bleeps continue to unfold, tracing glossy contours through its hazy environment. On ‘Truth’, these elements assume a more dream-textured sensuality, evoking the fantasy of a hidden realm without losing sight of the drive running throughout. Finally, the title track brings the album’s narrative full circle on a softer note, as hopeful chords fill the air and leave its closing moments suspended in a more luminous dimension.

Teeming with detail yet firmly shaped for club use, ‘In Cycles’ unfolds as an immersive and technically assured long-form statement.

Known as the co-founder of TSSRCT alongside UFO95, and following his contribution to Veil Of Echoes II, Hadone returns to Sublunar with a body of work that fully showcases the breadth of his artistic vision. Throughout the album, he reveals an impressive ability to merge emotional depth, powerful rhythms and sophisticated sound design into a deeply personal and unmistakable sonic identity, further establishing himself as one of the most compelling artists in today's techno landscape.

The journey begins with the ambient title track, "Kept What Remained", an atmospheric introduction that sets the tone for everything that follows. It seamlessly transitions into "It Was Never Really Gone", a deeply emotional piece with a memorable arrangement that lingers long after it ends, before "Red Hour" raises the intensity through driving percussion and a tougher sonic approach.

The B-side opens with "The Enemy Within", an explosive combination of intricate sound design and powerful rhythmic structures. It is followed by "Claim Your Due", a more submerged and atmospheric composition whose versatility makes it equally effective across different moments of a set.

On the C-side, "Nobody Hears The Warning" gradually builds momentum through hypnotic energy and striking production, leading into "A Gentle Kind Of Madness", where beautifully crafted synth work and meticulous arrangements create one of the album's most distinctive moments.

The final side begins with "A Dog That Learned To Speak", blending contrasting synth textures and detailed effects into a constantly evolving soundscape. The album concludes with "The Quiet Refusal", an epic and powerful closing statement that perfectly brings together the emotional intensity, coherence and artistic vision of the entire record.

With Kept What Remained, Hadone demonstrates that innovation doesn't require sacrificing identity. Instead, he delivers an album that is bold, emotionally resonant and unmistakably his own, confirming his place among the leading voices of contemporary techno.
