That’s so touching! Beautiful and real lyrics. I see the impact it has on families every day… and usually keep wondering what is going on inside the patient's now empty mind. So much story lost… somehow music reconnects them with the past. Spread your work. My condolences. I am sure that she had the best “dad” she could have.

This is a piece I wrote many years ago, and recorded this duet with myself on Mandolin, and my good friend Allan Cook on Guitar.

I uploaded this piece some time ago as private, and shared with a few people whom I have come to be friends with here on SoundCloud, but have decided to release it publicly, at the urging of one such friend, Liz Dicker (Thank You Liz).

This is a special piece to me, as I wrote it when I was much younger, about 20 or so. In addition, my sister Kristina requested it for her wedding in place of traditional music.

It was also a defining moment, when Allan and I realized we had a special musical connection. I wrote the mandolin part, and when I showed him what I had written, he picked up his acoustic guitar, and like magic, he just knew what to play to perfectly accompany what I had written. This was not the only time this was evident, but it was the first time it was crystal clear to us both.

This recording is an excerpt from an extended improvised jam session we had with other friends, and for which he has the entire recording on his channel. It was recorded informally, and as a live performance, or perhaps better described as a group of musical friends having fun. We opened the recording with Allan and I playing this piece, and then went where the wind took us from there.

Magical Oasis

This is about how life is constantly presenting challenges. We must learn from each incident/experience and use that learning to try and be more resilient and be able to move forward. 
I wrote it on my 3/4 size Hofner classical guitar. It’s first song! I used open G tuning after being encouraged to try it by Mark Spruce (Original Spruce - great songs- give them a listen!). Thanks Mark!

This is a song that has great meaning to me. My mother suffered with dementia for most of the last 7 or 8 years of her life, and as her only child I became like her parent. Having watched this strange and difficult process, and lived through it with her, I began to write this song. I've tried to capture the emptiness and despair of what dementia, or Alzheimer's, causes its victims. At the same time I wanted to express my vision of her ultimate release from suffering. I hope it offers some comfort and hope for others who have had, or are having such experiences. This release is actually a somewhat updated version of the track I had previously released on SoundCloud.
