Dr. Helena Popovic MD is a leading authority on improving brain function, an Australian family physician, and 10-year care-partner for her father who had mixed Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. She has written two best-selling books about their adventure with dementia, and she teaches health professionals, people living with dementia, and members of the public how to stay as sharp at age 90 as they were at age 30. Her philosophy is that education is more powerful than medication, and she believes in growing bolder rather than older.

The International Society for Frontotemporal Dementias is a non-profit scientific society focused on frontotemporal dementias. Members include the leaders in FTD research around the world, and the society is associated with a large, international biannual meeting (soon to be annual) presenting the latest findings.

When Your MInd Used to Bounce

CHUCK FEENEY, the billionaire philanthropist who gave his fortune away during his lifetime died a year ago, at the age of 92 on October 9, 2023. One of the last big bets of the donor organisation he founded, ATLANTIC PHILANTHROPIES, was to create seven global ATLANTIC FELLOWS programs, each committed to the eradication of inequities.

One of those programs, the ATLANTIC FELLOWS FOR EQUITY IN BRAIN HEALTH program is housed in the GLOBAL BRAIN HEALTH INSTITUTE at two sites, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO and TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN. BRIAN LAWLOR is currently Site Director of the Trinity program and in reflecting on the late CHUCK FEENEY’s contribution, he begins by describing the impact Chuck had on the Irish city of Limerick where Brian grew up.

I use digital software, guitar and keyboards to produce my music. My music is completely original and I compose and edit using Logic Pro. i'm not exactly a great singer, as you'll see from my vocal tracks, so other people's vocals or collaborative vocals for any track are very welcome. I am very happy to collaborate - as long as it's a balanced collaboration!

I have always loved music. I learnt piano as a child and have dabbled with guitar without ever learning it ... until now! I have been in choirs most of my life but have not really delved into making music until the last few years. After initially playing around with Garage Band, I moved on to Logic Pro and that's how nearly all of my music has been produced. I love the interaction on Soundcloud and the comments from other musicians and composers are so helpful and supportive. Keep making music everyone!
