Description: Durham University Audio Drama Society presents The Right Kind of Hatred, which was awarded bronze in the category for Best Speech Programming in the National Student Radio Awards, It tells the story of a village haunted by murder and a mysterious force which takes hold of people, causing them to do awful things.

Written by Abir Hamdar, Wasafuli al-Sabr (I am Waiting For You) is the first dramatic staging of Arab women’s experience of cancer. Based on interviews with real-life female cancer patients from the Arab world, the play explores women’s cancer from the inside out. What does it feel like to ‘have’ – or be had by – cancer? How does it impact upon one’s relationship with oneself and with others – doctors, husbands, lovers, children, fellow sufferers? Why is women’s cancer so often defined as a period of interminable waiting with neither beginning nor end? Why do we insist on perceiving it as “end-of-life” narrative rather than a journey towards recovery?

DUADS recording of The Right Kind Of Hatred

The Three Musketeers was Durham University Audio Drama Society's first show, launching audio drama into the student theatre scene. This was a major project, involving a diverse group of over thirty actors and production team members, and achieving several awards at the D’Oscars (Durham Student Theatre’s annual awards ceremony) that year. It was also nominated for the National Student Radio Awards.
