Zombies In Miami - Horizon

A double dose of spice as two of Chile’s most exciting musical proponents join forces on ‘Ídolos’.

Fresh from her previous Pets outing alongside of Balam, Madrid-based DJ, producer, promoter and all round scene shaker, Fernanda Arrau, returns to the label, this time in partnership with Persona RS. ‘Match Point’ finds the pair taking centre court to pay tribute to Chilean Tennis player, Chino Ríos, with some powerful B-Boy styling. Scything retro-rhythms and classic Chicago vibes are cheekily adorned with cascading synths, vintage piano lines and dominant back hands… Winning our vote and easily taking the win.

Doubling up and further strengthening the firey latin flavour are Argentinian duo, DJs Pareja. The duo take Match Point into darker realms, bringing the original bass melody to the fore and allowing it to purr loud. They ramp the break beats and increase the drama with claps, kick drums, horns and more, creating a warehouse mood that is crying out for smoke machines and strobe lights.

Fernanda and Persona RS lighten the mood on ‘Pichichi’. Radiating 80’s pop sensations, this glorious synth-laden number is an ode to Ivan Zamorano, one of the finest Chilean ballers. Think big hair, short shorts and the slickest moves… Wonderfully rewarding, Pichichi is a top corner, back of the net finalé to the glorious ‘Ídolos’ EP.

Lithuanian DJ/Producer Cosman returns to ODD Pleasures with “Phrygian Trance”, a mighty EP made of two originals and two remixes from the hands of Yotam Russo aka Lott and Heidenreich. Cosman delivers two eclectic bangers loaded with heavy percussion, big room beats, obscure bass lines and mid east synth melodies. An inescapable trance to a dystopian reality.

Yotam Russo imprints his signature sound to “Zumbi” inviting the Zombie gang to a beach party in Tel Aviv. Sunshine, groovy rhythms and acid waves are guaranteed.

Heidenreich brings his characteristic freaky beats, detuned atmospheres and pulsating bass patterns to "Phrygian Trance", creating a psychotic experience perfectly cooked for the melting hours in the club.

Hailing from Guadalajara, Joseeph (FREEDL007) is another member of the boiling & sizzling Mexican underground music scene. Owner of a characteristic acid-in-space sonority, the young producer has already had his work published on some of the most respected labels amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene: NEIN, Freeride Millenium, Playground, Creatures Of The Night, Phisica, Innisfallen, and Discos Platino, just to name a few. While his forthcoming EP on Roam, in collaboration with Ademarr, is in the pipeline, he cooked a holy-cow theme to mark the launch of his Bandcamp adventures.

The single, “Cow Season”, transmits its message through a beautiful combination of mellow synth layers, a trippy progressive lead, cadenced percussive elements, and, of course, a cowbell line extravaganza. Guess what? Joseeph got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

Oblako Maranta, the tribal techno and weird disco duo formed by Russian producer Radial Gaze and Italian A-Tweed, are set to make their debut on the label with their EP, ‘Maranta Kicks’. The EP consists of three original tracks and a powerful percussive remix by German poet and musician Bryan Kessler.

The duo has already released several tracks in different compilations by Samo Records, Electric Shapes, Playground Records, Rotten City, and many more. With ‘Maranta Kicks’, the duo brings their wild drums, analog synths, odd magic samples, and deep “Maranta” kicks to their first EP.

The opener is “Mongol Triol”, a track with tribal trance-inducing percussion, and deep basses. The synth-artificial jungle takes you on an expedition, gradually revealing a mysterious lead created with a TB 303 while the ethereal voices resonate in the background and keeps the journey alive. The following cut, “Pumas”, is slow, somniferous, and powerful. Resonant and metallic synths play in the background, while the rhythm slowly gains strength to enter the machine's gears. The non-stop percussion adds to the overall effect.

Bryan Kessler's remix follows, a lively and energetic cut. Sharp sounds accelerate the pace, welcomed by a fat and solid bass, playful and resounding percussion, snare rolls, and sedative vocals. The EP closes with ‘Vega’s Glove’, a frenzied and wild track. Melting synths generate the atmosphere, while the drum and bassline take you on a journey through a tunnel of delirium and bottomless pit.
