Writing reviews is something that dinosaurs really appreciate doing, even more when the review is for the debut release of a label. The responsibility of having to write something that will be forever part of the history of the imprint mixes itself with the privilege of having such an opportunity: Sound Du Jour, curated by Anglo Italian DJ and Producer Carlo Bragagnini aka La Mano (SXDNS270), starts its musical journey with “Tarvisio”, a beautiful three-track EP featuring two powerful originals by Carlo himself and a stunning remix made with love by London-based producer Kiwi.

If the title track is an acidic, 808 heavy, electro driven workout, with a pulsing bassline, and hypnotic, arpeggiated synths, Kiwi’s remix follows a rather different direction: He works his magic on Tarvisio taking all the important parts of the original and adding floaty pads and strings, new percussive elements and a driving bassline.

In sum, Sound Du Jour kicks off delivering a must-have release and left us looking very much forward to its forthcoming episodes.

Duro is honored to present the birth of the “Baba” brotherhood. During the last pandemic year, Rina traveled from Tel Aviv to Portugal, where he met Switchdance. After some trips around the beautiful city of Lisbon, plates and plates of hummus and samosa, a visit to pick up raspberries at a field that used to be a medicinal cannabis farm and lots of hours in Switchdance's studio, 'Baba Music Vol. 1' was alive.

The journey initiates with the Portuguese version of "Give Way", a cut that narrates the moment when you are in a high state of mind and try to describe the process to get back to reality. For this version the duo worked with vocalist Abrão, where a deep and resonant bass, a synthesized voice, electric and acid melodies, and distant pads run through the space. It’s followed by the Hebrew version of "Give Away" where Rina takes control of the vocals. 

"Reak" means "empty" in Hebrew, the cut refers to a state of consciousness where there is nothing in the brain. Playful percussion, acid basslines mixed with digitally distorted synthesizers create the sensation of breaking out reality, an experience blended with algorithms, binary codes and atomized sounds where it is hard to distinguish the realness. A roar to all the Babas around the world to gather on the dance floor. 

To consummate the brotherhood with an embellishment, master Jonathan Kusama came up with two versions of "Give Way". The first one is a futuristic and dystopian dub masterpiece, with distorted bass lines, shady vocals and liquid percussion. For the second version Kusama brings up the energy and keeps the bass flickering and harsh, mixed with mind-bending and unhinged synthesizers.

While the music industry stood still through lock-down, South Korean record label uju Records lay working on a brand new EP from Shubostar, with two stunning remixes from Panthera Krause and Zombies In Miami. Waiting for the perfect moment to release it unto the world, it’s now time to launch the ‘Space Racer’ EP into the stratosphere! Consisting of 2 original tracks from label owner, the South Korean DJ and Producer Shubostar, who brings her low-slung Italo-disco influenced synth music across ‘Gundagai’ and title track ‘Space Racer’. Both bubbling over with driving arp basslines and huge drum machine grooves, complemented by beautiful atmospheric moments. Mexican duo Zombies In Miami rework ‘Gundagai’ with their punchy drum grooves and careful reworking of the magical arpeggios. Pairing this driving sound selection with a contrasting spread of synth pads and subdued melodic lines throughout. Panthera Krause takes on ‘Space Racer’ with a crunchy palate of new sounds, uplifting percussion loops and harmonious synth accompaniments. Keeping the Italo feel at its core, this late-night ride is a guaranteed dance floor moment! The artwork for the release has been beautifully crafted by Korean painter Daryung Kim, combining a mixture of Korean traditional, and western-style painting into a fusion of joyous colour and strokes that relate beautifully to the record.

The music journalist who's hailing from Marseille is a well established figure in the french music scene having co-founded arts & culture magazine Journal Ventilo and writing for Paris' finest Gonzaï magazine. 

Because of an inner need to share music in a different way and to get involved in the indie dance / leftfield disco scene he started deejaying in 2019 and launched his own mix series 'Upcoming Boogie' &  'Tribalism'.

'Count Me Out' is the 4th release on Unfound Sounds, a new UK imprint founded by JOBE. This release is more dance floor focussed, delivering 4 heaters of vary styles, showcasing his ability to create diverse sounds, suitable for various points in the evening. Unfound Sounds is a platform for JOBE to release his own music primarily, but he also plans to sign music from other artists as the label continues to build on its momentum.
