The journey from Earth, to this point, had been a long one. 🚀

Upon escaping near-certain death from the clutches of Skynet (OpenAI), the last remaining humans had traveled through the deep, dark black of space for what seemed like an eternity. Definitely weeks, maybe even months.  

With rockets running low on fuel & spirits in desperate need of lifting, they decided to land on an uninhabited planet. All was dark & the people were exhausted. But still they got to work together, setting up the soundsystem they had rescued from Earth. 

The survivors knew that they still had a lot of work to do, to build a life from scratch on this new planet. 🪐

But for this first night, and this first morning, they danced. Happy to be alive & to have each other.

From the sublime & the still to the cosmic & euphoric. 👽

John Daly delivering two cuts reminiscent of the early 90's NY deep house vibes. On the a-side we got the warm jazzy "I Get So High" in the AM mix and the original mix featuring vocals by Barbara Vulso and Saxophone by Jabin Ward. On the flip side we have the dreamy "Two Days" in the original version and one of those rare house mixes by Alden Tyrell & Serge who added some bump to this release.

Based in Valencia, Loudeast Records has been putting out quality house business to serious dancefloors since 2006. Founded by seasoned DJ and producer Nacho Marco, the label has played host to KiNK, C-Rock, Duckbeats, Terry Lee Brown Jnr, The Timewriter, Mateo & Matos, Midi Drop Music, Fred Everything and Kiko Navarro himself.  For their next release, Loudeast proudly presents Meloglen, the Mallorcan/ LA duo which is comprised of producer Melchor Rossell who has released on 20:20 Vision, Robsoul, Suara, Liebe & Detail and of vocalist Aqeel, who has worked with the mighty Dr Dre, Mala Rodriguez and Chacho Brodas. Their sound draws heavily on the influences of the legendary Detroit Grand Pubahs, the sultry touch of Moodymann, and the funked-up-ness of Parliaments’ George Clinton.
 
‘Elegant Art’ kicks off in minimal fashion with brooding bassline, and vibey as fuck vocal from Aqeel that dances around with the sparsely placed horns and intermittent effects. On ‘For Hire (Nacho Marco Remix)’, the vocal flow and moody swagger of Aqeel is dialled up to the maximum alongside emotion filled piano house keys. The floor focused ‘Attitude’ picks up the pace and is all about the spoken word (Is Prince in the house?). The original version of ‘For Hire’ is a bumpin’ house beauty that also gets a dubbed out instrumental from label head Nacho Marco who adds elements of crunch to funk up the proceedings.

"FRANTZ is from Brooklyn, NY and had local radio and Video Music Box shape his tastes before MTV's AMP took hold, which later got him a high school internship at Astralwerks Records/Caroline Distribution picking up on sounds from major label remixes to "strictly underground" labels. Since then he's been committed to chasing cuts that lie somewhere between jovial and frenzied energy on the Rave/Groove spectrum. This naturally led him to a stint at famed digger's delight, The Thing in Greenpoint.
  Having spent some years in Mexico City just as that scene firmly re-established itself in the global view, he found a space within it playing disco, all manner of house, UK garage at famed clubs and parties Sunday Sunday, Departamento, Pervert, Japan, Por Detroit, and Yuyu.
  Since returning to NYC he's continued to forge his sound around town while daytiming as a buyer at Academy Records, of used collections and supporting burgeoning local (and sometimes foreign) electronic artists and labels. More recently he's featured on a V/A release on Death On Wax, contributing a delightfully sleazy disco edit that works on the dancefloor (or a leather bar).  
 This selection for There Is No Planet Earth is a small sharing of forever favorites, re-discoveries, and new obsessions.
