Brazil-based dj/producer Marcal is one to keep an eye on these days. The tracks he has produced are being played by artists like Ben Sims, Luke Slater, DJ Bone and Dave Clarke, while also having released EP's on labels such as REKIDS and JAM and making remixes for recently released tracks (one of which is from our friends LYRIC on ROOMTRAX). 

He is a successful DJ as well, having played on events like Lost and Found and Spectrum. He hasn't been sitting still during the pandemic, as he has appeared on Rinse France alongside Radio Slave and Hybrasil, while also appearing on numerous podcasts such as Room Trax and Adroit

He has made a stellar 56-minute set for us with all the funk, groove and soul we love. We've been looking forward to this one for quite some time.

He was born and raised in Georgia, Batumi, lived and studied in Ukraine for a short, to return and gain respect in Georgia's capital Tbilisi,for time being regarded as Techno's hottest spot. He’s naturally modest, not very effusive, and quite thrifty in his statements. Paced-up and animal to the core, his vision sweeps an extra wide range of shades and reliefs, nimbly moving the cursor from classic Berlin-inspired blends to full-fledged magmatic trance, via Birmingham-style projections and a solid dose of folk-infused harmonics. Raw yet technical, organic with a hint of hypermodern hoodoo to it, Yanamaste’s sound is the definition of hardware techno with soul, cut to ram-raid and elevate in equal measure.

Somov Records head Ignez is up next with an unmissable techno number that’ll make you sweat. A younger self dropped the stuffy confines of his childhood on the Dutch coast and fled to Berlin as so many do, and there began to cultivate a sound that has placed him firmly among some of his talented and much talked about peers. The DJ/producer credits the seaside upbringing with instilling a deep respect for the rolling tides and endless sands, natural references that are deeply embodied in his hypnotising and immersive rhythms. His occasional return to home turf as resident of Amsterdam-based party series Eerste Communie has also played a significant role in his musical development and found him willing publishers in the likes of Token and SK_eleven, as well as a sparring partner in Berlin heavyweight Rødhåd (with whom he shares two EPs). It’s techno in purest form, bewitching loops that pulsate like those long ago shores. In that sound his ascetic beats are flanked by the most minimal detail and rely on raw percussive might to mesmerise his listener. A dancefloor portal to another world; transcendent stuff for sure. From small club settings to festivals on a larger scale Ignez brings a kind of magic that’s hard to turn a deaf ear to, Bassiani Podcast 220’s proof that he’ll pull those tricks at home too. A hour of virgin, mechanical beats that daze and enthral, a staunch reminder of techno’s visceral power and of why, for so many, it’s such a ruling passion.
