This year my Daughter Elektra (who is mirrored version of me and my inspiration and which drawings i kindly use with her permission) turned 10 i dedicated track for her if you dont mind 🙂 for the artwork i used pinball glass artwork from Bally's Elektra which is one of my favourite pinball machines (another “obsession” beside music) so i gathered those into track (spoken word is from the pinball when game is over but not sampled) . Ferrous is some nice metal fusion electro , which was subconsciously inspired by Public Enemy - Black Steel In Hour Of Chaos line "so , i am looking for that steel" by Chuck D. Enough talking , take a listen and enjoy it ! since this is very emotional and personal ep.

Space Is The Place - Mixed By Qamar Sol DSR 14-10-2022

Poladroïd is a project that started in 2000. After a debut on International Deejay Gigolos he went his own way and created Roulette Rekordz, releasing artists like Scape One, MANASYt, The WeeDJs and a bunch of various compilations... He also toured Europe and played mostly in Belgium with  ADULT., Ectomorph, Anthony Rother, Dopplereffekt and a long list of local artists...

He then took a break to resurface in 2019, relaunching his label at the same time. He has since released on Diffuse Reality, Detriti and appeared on Applied Research, Science Cult and Patterned Media. 

Known for the fierceness of his live performances, Poladroïd delivers his unique blend of electro with a relentlessness that has been constant over the years. Constructed like a movie with its twists and turns, his sets are an immersive experience in a strange world where only one thing is sure; you're gonna get a beating.

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Mick Harris, J.K. Broadrick, Arvo Part, Steve Reich, John Zorn, Miles Davis, Lalo Schifrin, Cerrone, So many people it would be impossible to list.
When I started doing electro, Drexciya and Dopplereffekt had the biggest influence on me. I also have to mention Ectomorph and AUX88, mostly the Detroit sound. 
Then I discovered the west coast electro/glitch/idm scene, and I have to say that Ben Milstein's music left a deep imprint in my brain. 
Another major memory is going to the DMZ parties in London, around 2004. Its at that point that I started to produce an hybridized type of music. If you listen to my 2007 liveset in Liege, it is the perfect illustration. 

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- For Poladroïd there's 2 things in the pipeline at this moment. 
A 5 or 6 track EP  but I didnt got any news about it for a couple of months so Im not sure if its still on
A double vinyl album to be released somewhere in mid 2023.
I'm very bad at demarching labels and selling myself so I  kind of gave up sending demos but  if you own a label and are interested, dont hesitate to get in touch with me.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- Artists: Hexalyne, Datacrashrobot, Trichome, Henry Hearse, Syl Kougaï,  SMPL SMPL, Syrte, ....
People who go their own way and have stories to tell.
Labels: Detriti, Dead Channel Records, Hyperdub, these are the first to come to mind but there's others.

4. What inspires you now to create music?

- My environment.

 5. What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I was an hardware-only guy until I got back into music 3 years ago.
Today its mostly software (Ableton) but I still use a couple of Strymon pedals (Big Sky & Timeline), a DSI Evolver, a Matrix1000  and a DFAM.
