For the second time Carhartt WIP Radio features a show from the Land of the Rising Sun. This time we spotlight Jazzy Sport, an umbrella for a label, two record shops based in Morioka and Tokyo, a distribution company and a production studio in Tokyo. Their musical foundations are rooted in Jazz, Hip Hop, Downtempo, Library music, and House. Each genre can be found in this mix prepared by the Tokyo based DJ and producer grooveman Spot. Besides a few of his own tracks, you will experience music by Japanese artists like DJ Mitsu the Beats, Cro-Magnon, and Physical Sound Sport, who all produce music of varied styles, tempos and grooves.

Arrow – O' La Soca (Galactic Mace stoned edit)

DJ AKEE hails from Kazakhstan. His career began with street dancing, where he achieved remarkable success. Concurrently, he started DJing at dance battles, which subsequently influenced his playing style. Currently, DJ AKEE is a prominent cultural figure in Kazakhstan, organizing events, hosting radio shows, curating music, producing, and frequently playing at underground parties.

He is the founder of the Vihod party series, which aims to develop the house music scene in Kazakhstan. It serves as a platform not only for local DJs but also for international talent. This spring, the Vihod team collaborated with the British platform Keep Hush, which allowed them to showcase the local electronic scene to a global audience.

Akee is also the founder of the Vortex party series, which focuses on popularizing the disco genre. In 2021, Akee (under his old nickname Aki) performed at Boiler Room (Almaty). His set demonstrated the breadth of his musical range. Akee also works as a music curator for five online radio stations with diverse genres, all accessible via the IZI app.

AKEE's sound is diverse and global. In his mixes and performances, AKEE constantly reinterprets his musical identity. He is always searching for new sounds, regardless of genre, origin, or groove. In his sets, he aims to evoke bliss and euphoria in the audience. House, disco, electro, Afro, and rhythms from various countries are his favorite weapons, and turntables are his playground.

Hip hop, and you don't stop: this Carhartt WIP radio show brings you Chopped Herring Records, founded in 2001 in Manchester by collector, rare vinyl eBay merchant, and DJ Bob Lipitch aka Pro Celebrity Golf aka Chubby Grooves. Since the beginning his label releases limited edition hip hop vinyl - never released before recordings from back in the day and new music from today's artists - always dope and fresh. The „Three Sinister Syllables“ LP by the artists Pro Celebrity Golf and Jay Glaze from 2004 is probably the record, that put the UK label on the global hip hop map. Others artists from their big roster include old and current stars like Action Bronson, Masta Ace or Stetsasonic, as well as new names like Epidemic from South Florida, Timeless Truth from NYC or US duo OG Aborigines amongst many others.
