[TRUST32] DJ GLOW presents POPULIST [out july 2018]

For the 9th premiere we move to French producer @Poperttelli via @Maturre Records - This vinyl release is a 6 track EP, juggling between Electro, Techno and Ambient tracks. Naturally I selected one of the two Electro tracks on the EP for the premiere. Poperttelli told me that he had to start preparing the EP quite a long time ago which explains the title of the release ’Theseus’Paradox’. This philosophical thought experiment of the ‘Ship of Theseus’ can be compared to the creative process in Art, Music, Cinema and so on. It creates questions about the identity of objects and their final forms, but in reality, there is no absolute answer. The track I have chosen to premiere is called ‘Assume’. Clocking in at 113 BPM, this haunting track creeps in a way that might just make you look over your shoulder to make sure you aren’t being followed. Beautiful pad-stabs and a driving arpeggio carry the track through it’s 4:29 run. The vinyl was released June 1st and is currently shipping within 7 days of order being recieved.

Eliott Forin returns with a brilliant new 3 tracker under his Foreign Sequence alias. On ‘Repeat Pattern’, @tonoforeign continues to develop his already masterful craft in deep Electro and techno tinged sounds. This EP is the third from the new label @Gestaltlabel - A collective looking to push deep, undiscovered music.

The first two tracks sit firmly in the category of deep: pensive, emotive and intricately detailed. On the other hand, the final track (the track I chose to premiere), Trùùm((33rd), is aimed squarely at the dance floor. Sinister sirens swirl around a robotic, machine-like bassline. Ice cold drums keep the track, and the listener, moving. Somber pads nestle in the background and provide the emotion that is always present in Forin’s music. This is a dance floor weapon with real heart! You can pre-order this digital album now via Bandcamp but will release officially on July 20th.

Tora Vinter returns to Bror Records on its first anniversary record, presenting two uplifting yet at the same time emotional tracks, including a guest remix appearance by Harald Björk (Kranglan Broadcast/Studio Barnhus).

In Tora’s own words: “Peri-Banu is number three in a series of songs portraying female characters from Thousand and One Nights. Peri-Banu is wise, powerful and beautiful and she is the coolest character in a story full of weak, violent and power hungry men.”

On Kid Kid:
”The kids stole my phone and made a number of recordings that I found. I processed them and included it. For me having kids is about love, joy, worries, fear, soul searching, expansion but most of all fun.“ - On the B-side, Harald Björk features a clubbier “Venus Version” of Kid Kid, described: “When I heard the original track I got a vibe of ”life” and ”birth”. I have a quite new grown interest in astrology and was heavily interested in the Mercury Venus conjunction in the 1st house of cancer while working on the track”
