Matt Parent lived in NYC for the past decade cutting his teeth as a live performance artist and DJ. He released two LPs, one on Chem Club and most recently on Acid Camp. He has also released on compilations for Lost Soul Enterprises, Machine Jazz, Blankstairs, Microtones, and Mysteries of the Deep. He’s also a member of the group SEER with Maroje T. They released on Chem Club, Detour, Machine Jazz, and most recently Ghostly International's Spectral Sound. 

Currently living in Philadelphia,
CG animator by day as well as a college professor,he also finds time to mix and master tracks for labels and friends as well.

Berlin-based label. Burial Soil proudly presents a collaborative electro album initiated by CYRK.
For their album „Freundschaft“ CYRK has collaborated with Steffi, Anthony Rother, Ravn Jonassen, JakoJako, Jensen Interceptor, Alienata, Nite Fleit and David Carretta.
Over the last few years electro has had a massive resurgence.
Since then, a new generation of producers has taken the genre under the microscope, recombining classic tropes and influences in new ways. CYRK is among the list of artists consistently pushing all things electro to new heights with forward thinking, dancefloor shattering and bass-heavy concoctions ready to turn your favorite club dance floor into a sea of spaced-out euphoria.
Early 2020, they decided to reach out to some of their producer friends as well as artists they’ve been admiring for years, to collaborate on tracks. As they see it, the electro scene is a very close-knit community and it felt more than appropriate to support each other this way.
A few emails were sent, a few calls made, and a list of heavy-hitters was assembled to exchange files and jam together remotely or in-person in CYRK’s basement studio: Klakson and Dolly label owner Steffi, Anthony Rother, Burial Soil label buddy Ravn Jonassen, JakoJako, Jensen Interceptor, Alienata, Nite Fleit and French veteran David Carretta.
BPMs are high on the eight tracks of “Freundschaft”, the end result of this collaborative process, incorporating various influences from electro-adjacent styles like italo, EBM or, unsurprisingly, techno.
The beautiful cover art was created by Oliver Sperl.

Our next premiere comes to us courtesy of the legendary Austrian label @TRUSTvienna who already have 35 vinyl releases under their belt beginning in 1998. Their newest effort comes from another Vienna-based duo calling themselves @Microthol.

The TRUST roster is no newcomer to Electro music with previous releases from @The-Exaltics, @Mohlao, @Conforce, @DJ-Dijital-1, @Clatterbox and @DJStingrayofficial. This time around Microthol carries the torch with 4 brand new tracks for the imprint. The duo, who started producing in 2003, have a strong showing as well having released 9 of their own records almost exclusively with TRUST. The pair constantly stun connoisseurs of Electro with their vintage synth sound and unique approach to composing. Not a single synth-preset is to be heard on this record, that is for damn sure. 

The track selected by @DarkScienceElectro to premiere is the doom-laced track 'Dissonanz'. This track absolutely shines on this release for its clever use of percussive modulation and interesting approach to melody, using mostly the bass line and industrial screeches/sweeps to give creepy, ambient body to the track while vocoders weave in/out of the track.

PREMIERE: Microthol - Dissonanz (TRUST)

Following releases from Rude 66, Vakula and Mick Wills, Arma continues to explore the dark and wild corners of contemporary machine music via a new split 12” featuring LVRIN and Maoupa Mazzocchetti.

LVRIN is a Russian producer entrenched in the guttural thrill of distorted hardware techno. His previous releases have surfaced on Pinkman, Crimes Of The Future (alongside Dmitry Distant) and Sign Bit Zero, while his A Bleak Reality alias landed on Lux Rec sublabel Mrt. These reference points make clear the sound world LVRIN occupies, where blown out boxes spit out gnarled beats and slimy basslines through an overdriven desk. The entwined scepters of post punk and industrial loom over his nocturnal incantations, the clamour of the melodies bleeding into the hiss of the reverb for a gloriously deviant end result. It’s no surprise to learn these vibrant pieces were captured in one take – the impulse and energy of the performance supersedes the need for nitpicking and refinement in the mixdown.

Brussels-based Maoupa Mazzocchetti has been weaving defiantly unconventional strains of electronic music since first emerging on Unknown Precept and Mannequin. From the acclaimed Laugh Tool LP to last year’s Gag Flag on Editions Gravats and an essential leftfield reggaeton collaboration with Clara! on Les Disques De La Bretagne, Mazzocchetti’s path has been wildly unpredictable and highly original. This non-trend continues with the vivid shapes he marks out on the B side of this record. There’s a rugged, body-poppin’ thrust to the grooves that power all three tracks – all the stronger to carry the madcap sampling and mischievous synth splashes that shape out the music’s identity. These are short, sweet blasts of ideas dripping in personality and originality – equal parts deadly serious and deliriously flippant, and essential listening for anyone who enjoys straying from established paths while still rocking to the beat.
