With an absolute brute of a bassline, the electro burner “Weather Control'' lives up to its eponymous title for the EP by Moscow-based Sin:It:Sin on TR4R’s Rough Cuts 05. If the gritty number doesn’t take you souring, the hypnotism surely will, as the track builds in winding arpeggios and razor-sharp percussion. “What motivates us as human beings?” Zobol muses. Some might argue that the present day has produced a new culture of inefficiency and burn-out – a world where greedy landlords reign supreme, where broken bureaucracy flourishes and where people have become slaves to the system. But all is not lost. Hope sits on the horizon, and Jon Chmielewski is exploring the possibilities. For the 12th release on Welsh imprint Haŵs, the undeniably genius producer presents an electro EP that seeks to communicate something far bigger than himself. 

On the B-side, ‘R U OK?’ dilutes rippling synth lines with a bulky bass and inquisitive melodies, purging itself of emotions like a late-night spent soul-searching.

PREMIERE: Zobol - R U OK? (Haŵs)

Detroit-based Electro and techno artist Francois Dillinger (Natural Sciences, Blind Allies, Dionysian Mysteries) collaborates with LDI Records owner Lloyd Stellar for the imprint’s third vinyl release. Machine Men EP sees the pair working in a deep and contemplative sonic world, inspired by the potential future where the relationship between man and machine becomes blurred.

The story of this EP takes place on a future earth, at a time where technological performance enhancing implants push identities of human and machine into a gray area which is no longer binary. On this earth, conservative groups oppose this development, stuck in the idea that machines are subordinate to humans. The EP explores this oppression of different ideas around identity, finding parallels with the same discourse and challenges that today we see in modern society and the fight against conservative, populist right wing politics to create an accepting and equal world.

Specialising in moody, atmospheric electro, LDI Records (Lloyd’s Dark Imperium) are an essential label to watch. Distributed worldwide by Clone Distribution, while the Dutch label’s main focus is on vinyl releases, available in selected record shops across the globe, releases will also be available digitally.

PREMIERE: Francois Dillinger & Lloyd Stellar - Fear Paradox

For this @DarkScienceElectro premiere, we check in with @generali_minerali on Undersound Recordings

For the next release on the label, @undersoundlondon reaches to the Caucasian country of Georgia with this electro 4-tracker from Generali Minerali. The up-and-coming artist is the booker and sound engineer at the Drama Bar in Tbilisi. He opens the EP with two darker jams with swirly 303 lines on steady 808 rhythms. Influences from the late Microlith permeate these tracks, as the artist mentions him as one of his biggest inspirations. The B-side slows the tempo down with '808 Dream' where delayed melancholic melodies are intertwined with rough saw waves. Finally, “Evening Mood” offers the perfect mood for a warm-up or after-party with its downtempo swing and drums.

This compilation has a serious lineup of sleeper hits ranging from cosmic melodic melancholic, extraterrestrial funk, to cavernous repetitions straight from the mothership… The sound is dark with chromed-out overtones, tailored to take the listener on nightly escapades in a dark neon-lit digital dystopia. Sweat it out to dark esoteric grooves.

Self Learning System present their very first record and deliver a new label focussing on conceptual work as well as interdisciplinary art in full effect. 

They believe in the human mind as a self-learning system - creators and originators connected all around the globe aiming to keep the scene alive. They want to cultivate a community and platform for exchange with other artists pursuing music, design, art, and events. 

Their first strike comes as “The Arrival Of Unisex & Ernst”, a split EP of the two label heads to introduce themselves and the sound of SLS. The record contains six analog hardware tools ranging from classic Electro to Industrial.

It is presented by 10 local and 10 international producers, hailing from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece, and Israel. All of the producers participated in this compilation to help the operation of this very important platform. All income they receive from sales of this V/A goes to support their work.
