[PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB] is pleased to present its 76th release. The seventy-sixth issue — like 76 reflections scattered across the mirror of the mind. From the depths of Überlingen, Germany, Deemkeyne (@ueberlingen-deemkeyne) brings us Mind In the Mirror EP — nine fragments of introspection, nine facets of sound mirrored in the dim glass of inner dialogue. In each track, the sound is not only heard but seen — within. Nine tracks, nine doors to a space where reflections take on lives of their own.

Four original compositions:

::: Drawed Traces — marks scratched into memory, like invisible routes on a fogged-up mirror.
::: Core Elements — essence, foundation, the pulse of sound as if heard from deep within the self.
::: Mind In the Mirror — a sonic portrait shimmering in digital ripples, a central meditation on self, on time, on the silence between notes.
::: Next Future — premonition, hypothesis, a rough sketch of tomorrow written in modulation — a dotted line on the map pointing to the unknown.

Five new perspectives — alternate paths through the same labyrinth:

::: Castle From Indistinct Dreams (@shadow-recruit) Rebuild — a dreamlike reimagination by an anonymous architect of hazy sound.
::: Oldschool_Dubtechno .Producer (@enercube & @x_fr) Dust Dub — the dense grain of memory, like an old VHS tape coated with time. The noise of vintage machines slowed to a spiritual tempo.
::: Liuos (@liuos) Rework — northern breath turned into rhythmic geometry — precise and beautiful.
::: Rick Fox (@dj_rick_fox) Basic Remix — a laboratory-grade deconstruction down to the elemental core — mathematically pure, almost industrial in its austerity.
::: DubTeknik (@dubteknik) Reshape — a balance between machine and organism, between structure and chaos. A deepened texture, like the skin of a city after rain.

Deemkeyne presents Mind In the Mirror EP — alternate reflections of sound. They distort, deepen, unravel. This is an internal gallery. Entering it, you’re not listening to music — you're seeing through it. Through a mirror not of faces, but of resonant depths.

Dykuma kicks off its mix series with Vilnius-based producer @aurummiles a.k.a Aurimas Milesinas who will headline the fifth Dykuma event at @barasperonas next Friday.

Having been inspired by classic rock and shoegazing brit music in the childhood, Aurimas later discovered the world of electronic sounds by touching JUNO-6 for the first time, and it made a substantial effect in his future life. After a lot of years practising playing the guitar, keyboards, drums and everything that make sounds, he finally started producing electronic music that combines rock, psychodelic and electronic sounds. 

In recent years, Aurimas has released dazzling EPs at @esthetique-lab, @blindetonation and @coquelicot-records. In addition to that, his tracks were remixed by such prominent artists like Thomass Jackson, Il Est Vilaine, Pardon Moi and more. Ahead of next Friday's Dykuma, we sat down for a talk about his mix, plans for the future and inspirations.

1. Aurimas, thank you for taking the time to record this mix. What is the idea behind your mix?

It's my pleasure! This mix depicts my mood of the day I recorded it. It is a composition of 13 great tracks that will lead you through different emotions in one hour. This set is like Rose of Jericho – life, death, rebirth.

2. You were playing and producing under the moniker Aurum Miles. Where this comes from?

In Latin, it means Golden Solder. Well, in life you must fight your way through various shit, but in this fight, you must be shiny and visible. And we all know that gold is glowing even in mud. So here we have - Aurum Miles.

3. If you have to describe your production and the music you play by giving it a film title, what film it would be?

Definitely "Only Lovers Left Alive".

4. What have you been up to recently in the studio? 

I‘m finishing my next EP and working with some remixes and preparing a live performance. Also, I‘ve painted the studio walls with BASTARD-AMBER colour. I change wall colours every two/three weeks.

5. What are your plans and aims you've set for yourself in 2020? Any gigs, releases, new forms of music?

First and most important aim - not to die this year! Next goal is the same every year - improve music production. Meet new people as well, quit smoking (or maybe not). Also prepare for Eurotrip with live performance, later this year.

6. Where does your inspiration for music production comes from? 

Inspiration comes from the environment. Strangers, books, movies, weather, mood...everything and anything can inspire me. But mostly it is music. I listen to a lot of various music. Love the soundtracks of video games and movies.

7. Say, you are dropped in a desert for one week with a tent and a sleeping bag. What are the three essential things you would take with you?

A bottle of whiskey, Colt and a bullet. I'm in love with Russian roulette.

@BTCOP first got into electronic music at the age 14 when he first bunked into the legendry Scottish nightclub ‘Pure’ in Edinburgh. That was back in 1990. He was hooked overnight and starting attending raves and clubs whenever he could.  At this stage he was never really interested in DJing and was more interested in the instruments used to make electronic music. He was always interested in the techy side of music production and was very aware of instruments such as the TB303, TR808 and TR909. When he just turned 17 his father, a professional guitar tutor, offered an Akai sampler or driving lessons. This was a no brainer. He already had an Atari ST for gaming so was able to create a small set up using Cubase, a small mixer and monitors. Then the mid 90s happened and some of the sparkle seemed to have gone from the scene. In any case he lost interest for a while until about 2000 when he started attending another legendary Scottish Club night ‘Optimo’. 

By this time he was working professionally as a consultant engineer so had some disposable income and it was at this stage he started collecting vinyl on a pretty large scale. Buying up loads of old Belgian new beat and techno records as well as more modern electronic sounds. He also started to reignite some interest in music production and started buying up some of the old classic Roland analogue gear. He slowly built up a home studio and started learning modern production techniques. By 2012 he was attending ALFOS at the Berkley suit in Glasgow and it was at this time that he really started to spend more and more of his spare time experimenting with production. This had to be balanced with raising two young kids and working full time which made progress slow, but reconnecting with the nightlife seemed to spark a much greater level of inspiration which led him to sending some demo tracks to NEIN records, which were snapped up and signed. More recently BTCOP sent some tracks out to Evil Plans Records.
 
When Jamie Tolley (co-owner of Evil Plans Records) called BTCOP to tell him he wanted to release the tracks they immediately started discussing remixes, very quickly agreeing on who they would like to get on board. So Jamie set about the task and contacted Duncan Gray and Javier Busto. They were both exited to hear they were up for it. As it turned out, Duncan actually produced two great remixes so rather than pick just one, the decision was made to include both on the release. A very pleasant bonus. Javier and Duncan really delivered on this.

For his first release on this new label BTCOP presents two contrasting tracks. He explains: ‘I So Late was produced in the sunny summer of lockdown reflects the slower pace of life in isolation. Whereas Lexeme, a total opposite, is an evil plan and is yearning for us to get back onto the darker side of the dancefloor.’
