was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina and grew up in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Dallas. While a teenager in Dallas, he began spinning turntables for house parties. His radio career began on Dallas radio station K104 and Waco, Texas Spanish-language station KHCK.[2] Later, he joined the Los Angeles hip-hop station Power 106.[1] At Power 106, he hosts the Felli Fel Show on Saturday evenings.[2]

He had a cameo role as himself in the 2003 film Malibu's Most Wanted.[3] In 2007, he signed with Island Def Jam/So So Def.[4] His debut album for the label is tentatively titled Go DJ!.[1][5] Singles for the album included "Finer Things" with Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West, Fabolous, and Ne-Yo; "Get Buck in Here" with Diddy, Akon, Lil Jon, and Ludacris;[6] and "Feel It" with Sean Paul, Pitbull, Flo Rida, and T-Pain. DJ Felli Fel was also featured on the soundtrack of the game Midnight Club: Los Angeles, with his song "Get Buck in Here". Recently he released the single "Boomerang" featuring Pitbull, Akon, and Jermaine Dupri. The track has been remixed by DJ Vice in 2011.

On April 22, he released his brand new single to iTunes titled "Reason To Hate" which features singer Ne-Yo and rappers Tyga and Wiz Khalifa. It was co-produced by Ned Cameron.

Hardtechno refers to a style of Techno, which evolved after 2000 from Schranz and Hardcore Techno. While the first harder Techno productions appeared around 1991 on labels such as PCP and Industrial Strength, these were referred to as Hardcore Techno. Over the years, the Hardcore scene cultivated a new sound far away from its Techno origins, whereas Techno itself went in a softer direction.

At the end of the 1990s, fueled by the Schranz movement, a new, extremely hard style of Techno became popular, which is now generally referred to as Hardtechno. This style runs at very high bpm, usually 150 or more and features heavy distortion and prominent kickdrums. By 2007, almost all major European Techno festivals, such as I Love Techno, Awakenings, MayDay, Nature One, Mystery Land featured a Hardtechno stage or at least one Hardtechno artist. It has also been the main focus of festivals like "Hardtechno Festival" in Vienna (attendance 2,000+) or Syndicate in Dortmund (attendance 10,000).

Deep house was largely pioneered by Chicago producers such as Marshall Jefferson (On The House) and Larry Heard (Mr. Fingers) and with tracks such as "Mystery of Love" (1985) and "Can You Feel It?" and (1986);[1] the latter had a similar impact on deep house as Derrick May's "Strings Of Life" (1987) did on Detroit techno.[2] Heard's deep house sound moved house music away from its posthuman tendencies back towards the lush soulful sound of early disco music (particularly that of old Philadelphia International and Salsoul records).[3]

Later period deep house tracks (1993—94) were more heavily influenced by disco and even merged into a disputable disco house genre.[citation needed] Modern deep house (post-2000) often shares features with the related genre of tech house but tends to focus on musical complexity where tech house focuses on simplicity.[citation needed]

While house displayed several characteristics similar to disco music, it was more electronic and minimalistic,[2] and the repetitive rhythm of house was more important than the song itself. House music today, while keeping several of these core elements, notably the prominent kick drum on every beat, varies a lot in style and influence, ranging from the soulful and atmospheric deep house to the more minimalistic microhouse. House music has also fused with several other genres creating fusion subgenres,[2] such as euro house, tech house, and electro house.

Many local Chicago house music artists suddenly found themselves with major label deals. House music proved to be a commercially successful genre and a more mainstream pop-based variation grew increasingly popular. Artists and groups such as Madonna,[2] Janet Jackson,[3] Björk, Kanye West,[4] and C+C Music Factory[2] incorporated the genre into their work. After enjoying significant success in the early to mid-90s, house music grew even larger during the second wave of progressive house (1999–2001). The genre has remained popular and fused into other popular subgenres, as the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll has been dominated by house DJs since the beginning of the polls. Today, house music remains popular in both clubs and in the mainstream pop scene while retaining a strong foothold on underground scenes across the globe.
