Highway Robbery is a collaborative concept album from Detroit's heavyweight emcee Guilty Simpson and Philly's burgeoning beat smith Small Professor. Weighing in at ten tracks, the project places you in a seemingly post apocalyptic Detroit where the mentality is feast or famine. 'Highway Robbery' plays as one long narrative of Guilty's day-to-day survival in Detroit's concrete jungle, set to the tone of Small Professor's foreboding, percussion heavy production. Apathy connects with two living Hip-Hop legends on “I Keep On,” which boasts towering bars from Pharoahe Monch with soulful, neck-snapping production supplied by The Chocolate Boy Wonder, Pete Rock.

The lyrically astute track follows the otherworldly “Alien Weaponry,” which features Ap flexing braggadocious raps over a sinister Nottz’ banger. But on “I Keep On,” the Connecticut emcee is a bit more laid-back and in the pocket as he trades rhymes with every rapper’s favorite rapper, Pharoahe Monch.

And you can definitely count Apathy among those apostles, because the Demigodz rapper revealed in a Facebook Q&A in 2017 that no other emcee influenced his style more than Monch. And if that influence wasn’t clear before, you can absolutely hear it on “I Keep On,” particularly when the two share the final verse and flaunt some straight-up bananas wordplay and flows. If ever there was a track that younger rappers should listen to, it’s this one.

Denver rapper Donnie Raven makes his debut in a major way with “Rainin’,” a straight-up lyrical showcase featuring a guest verse from wordplay assassin Elzhi, with production supplied by your favorite producer’s favorite producer…Nottz Raw!

It may be his first single ever—and it stems from his upcoming 'Livelihood' EP—but Raven sounds as put-together and confident as someone who’s been doing this for years. There’s a strong message running through the visuals for the title track taken from NYC’s Revenge of the Truence ‘H1N1’ EP.  The self-directed visuals center on footage from the H1N1 outbreak of 2009 and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a bit of a heavy watch, but it's a poignant one as well as a grim reminder of where the world is at right now.

‘H1N1’ is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms via No Cure Records. The six track effort is also available on vinyl in limited quantities via Fat Beats.
