Since bursting onto the scene back in 2000, they've continued to develop their own unique style and sound, releasing numerous singles as well as five full-length LPs and establishing themselves as leaders in the field. With their impressive DJ skills and inspirational productions, Black Sun Empire has reached far beyond their native Holland. They've toured around the world, with highlights including Glastonbury and numerous other festival appearances, and continue to build on their growing reputation as some of the most exciting and consistent performers in the scene.

From their base in Utrecht, Holland, the Black Sun Empire trio have truly gone global, taking their own brand of high-octane techno-infused drum & bass to audiences worldwide, with over 100 appearances at live stages and clubs in the last year alone.

Their own club night, Blackout, celebrated it's ninth year anniversary in February 2012 and has seen guest appearances from some of the very best artists in drum & bass and dubstep including Goldie, Dom & Roland, Klute, Optical, Spor, Nero, and Bar 9. South London Ordnance marks his sophomore Hotflush release with an extended four-track EP that confidently flaunts his flair for brooding atmosphere.

Dark, punchy basslines informed by a distinctly UK heritage are his signature and they bind these wee-hour refrains with brassy continuity. From the futurist synthesis of lead-track “Contact” through the jungle influences pervading “Sabre” and “Ritual to Romance” to the whistle-wielding “Output”, SLO’s stamp is as compelling as it is surefooted.

This release, together with last year’s acclaimed launch of his own label, Aery Metals, a remix for Optimo, his first North American tour, show the young UK producer maturing beyond his years.

Since the beginning of the Nineties, Mark Broom is an institution within the British Tech-House scene. As a DJ, the former London Eastender and now Norfolk resident Broom is rocking international clubs from the likes of the Fuse in Brussels or the Fabric in London for more than 20 years now, but especially his productions for Warp, R&amp;S and Pure Plastic, the label he runs together with studio partner Dave Hill, have defined the hypnotic sound of a whole generation of British clubbers. After Broom has remixed tracks by Gennaro Le Fosse and Johannes Heil for Cocoon Recordings, it was now unquestionably time for a musical exclamation mark under his own name. And so, the Rave mix of "SQ18" is setting a hedonistic imperative for the club year 2012 right from the beginning, quite naturally interspersing a Mentasm rave signal after about three minutes within its driving Detroit Dub Techno, but never conveys the sense of nostalgic mustiness. Well, that's what you can justifiably call a Techno bomb! Next, with "Forward", Broom celebrates an opus that is a bit more rooted in the traditions of Detroit strings, that is reaching for the sky – a track where some people may inevitably think of, for instance, DJ Rolando's best tracks. In any case, with the sound boldness and the maximum of dancefloor service of those tracks, Broom puts the musical evolution of modern electronic dance music in a nutshell.
For all digital DJs, there's a more deep version of "SQ18" included as a bonus track.
