Maison D’etre’s moody masters have been at it again. Long-time friends, Gel Abril and Anthony Middleton have combined forces to produce more than a collaborative EP. ‘All in the Mind’ is a dexterous fusion melding what could be considered contrasting styles into balanced compliment. ‘All in the Mind’ is murky, provocative, groovy- all that is that is Maison D. Contrast and compliment, space and balance, much like a friendship this two-track EP shows off the strength of dynamic collaboration, honouring differences and never conformity.

‘All in the Mind,’ showcases both producers’ unique craft; fusing Gel Abril’s signature techno sound with Anthony Middleton’s melodic and spacious arrangements. Thought provoking vocals stretched out across a landscape of rhythmic pads. A tribal space voyage, both stirring and calming, complex yet simple- experiential and unreal all in perfect contradiction. Dark and hypnotic with a techno pad breakdown this beat-rider evokes imagination...It is, after all, ‘All in the Mind’.

‘Hey You’ is a classic track reinvented with some contemporary techno flare. Classic vocals, airy and distant, are laid over super modern tech and synth sounds in a digital Ping-Pong style. This track is all about rhythmic drive with old-school baseline, a combination that is bound to keep the feet dancing well past 4am.

So Far So Good Vol.1 (The Remixes) is the first in a new –aptly named - series from the ever-evolving label, Onefold Records. The LP features a selection of tracks from the imprint’s impressive back catalogue, remixed by a roster of talent including some label favourites and some exciting new names.

It kicks off with ‘Thoughts of You’, a track by UK producer AndMe., and remixed by fellow label veteran Tempo Elektrik. With deeper vocals and a heavier beat, he’s given this slick dance-floor original a grittier, more underground sound.

High energy remixes from Fatfly and Oliver Rees follow, while Wrong Burgundy’s Onefold Record debut, ‘My Vibe’, is revised by London producer Durty Fresh, with added synth lines and percussion working with the bassline.

The second half of this ten track offering includes a clever remix from Jake Twell, in which he loops parts of vocal house track ‘Committed’ -  a recent release from fresh young talent Dillon Agg – to create a superb piece of deep house; and a second cut from AndMe., this time remixed by one of the label’s newest signings, SMOKI.

A great look back at some of Onefold’s finest moments, and an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.

Sidney Charles & Santé have teamed up again to forge the 'Forever EP’ on Hot Creations with Russ Yallop on remix duty. Those that have witnessed their epic sets playing together will know the vibrant energy they create and this latest offering stands stead to them.

The title track ‘Forever’ uses dynamic claps, an indelible beat and a simple but effective vocal that ties all the elements together. With a playful production technique at its heart, this is a cut made for summertime. Things get a little darker with ‘Mogli’, morphing high-pitched, glitchy sounds alongside a hissing beat. On the flip side, Russ Yallop remixes ‘Forever’ to make the whole track bounce with a heavy and thick bassline.

Hamburg-born Sidney Charles has only been releasing music for four years but has already had a string of successes on labels such as 8bit, Moda Black, AVOTRE and VIVa. Berlin-based Santé is also involved with all areas of music as he DJ’s, produces, and is building on his own record label AVOTRE. Sidney Charles & Santé have previously released on Hot Creations with ‘All Night Long’ on the ‘Hot Summer Jams’ album.

Russ Yallop is a key member of the underground house scene and  is no stranger to Hot Creations; he has previously released ‘Traffic’ and ‘System Crank’ with them, whist also regularly DJing at their worldwide events. He is also an established member of the Crosstown Rebels family after first releasing with them in 2010.

MOUTH TO MOUTH 10:

The original single came about during a very productive week for me. I made 5 songs in in 7 days right before one of the early DEMF festivals in Detroit. There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then, and I had just returned from a two week tour of Europe where I was ingesting so much new music. I sat down at my studio in Detroit and tried to recreate what I was hearing in the clubs. Mouth to Mouth was the stand out track of that session, and I made the entire thing in a few hours. I recorded it mostly live, tweaking and building the synths and muting/unmuting the channels in real time and just recording the result. I cleaned it up a little bit afterward, but left the length and overall arrangement intact. I remember playing it for a few people right away and it was clear something special was happening. There is something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all. 

For this remix package, I chose every remixer. I went to my close friends, favourite remixers, and people I have always respected. There is such a diverse spread of talent with these artists, I knew every remix would be completely different. Each remix represents a different side of techno, which is where all of these artists come from. Everyone put a piece of themselves into this, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing to the project.
