KISEWA’s Scream Sonata explores monstrosity.

Scream Sonata seems like looking into the mind of a horror fiction writer.

The monstrosity is attached to the baseless hallucinations of different appearances depending on the individual rather than a authoritative grotesque appearance.

KISEWA seems to know how to instigate a vortex of negative hallucinations, but at the same time ritualistically induces another hallucination to drive it away.

Scream Sonata tells the story of a race between monsters carrying such double hallucinations.

About KISEWA:
Based in Seoul, KISEWA is an independent musician/artist who’s practice is based on observations of contemporary music culture and explores the various sounds that it is comprised of.

Committed to the practice of gathering pieces and particles of independent music that are scattered around, KISEWA’s pursuits have been heavily directed toward covering the wide array of so-called sub-genres, including industrial, noise and ambient.

As an extension of such research into the unique and multifaceted web of independent musical acts, KISEWA is also eager to present the artist’s own sound works that are equally unique and diverse in their own rights.

Tedium is modernity in the waiting phase. A longed-for moment of stasis.
A compilation of 23 tracks that shows us a rather wide spectrum including diverse manifestations of modern electronics. Boredom and neurosis that hold hands and become a chameleon-like whole.

Sometimes this combination draws its essence from obscure ambient demotivating, other times steals the body of enormous noisy and granular flows.

An emblematic sound vessel capable of containing everything from the sharpest electro-acoustic resonances to the most deformed deteriorations of hip hop imagery.

Delmore FX (moniker of poet and artist Elia Buletti) is a purveyor and craftsman of avant-world and post-world sounds. His sophisticated but straightforward electroacoustic language made of experimental novelty and folkloric ancientness has the oblique capacity of making one listen, dance and think astray at once.

"Scompaio" (I disappear) is the new full length work by Das Andere Selbst label’s bright spark. Built around the mundane but magic disappearance of shapes, things and beings alike in the somber tiredness of nocturne shadows and vaporous ashen fumes, the album’s ten tracks are graftings of new investigations where the focus is Delmore’s renewed interest for the organic resonance and corpus of acoustic instruments. Balafon, rumba boxes, kalimbas and various percussions are bewilderingly transfigured by the artist’s outlandish array of synthesizers, samplers, loopers, mics, mixer and effects employed as assemblages of transmogrifying machines.

Perhaps interestingly, "Scompaio" is but a simple suggestive choice for the album title. After getting lost researching the album tracks’ quasi-visible shape by squinting his eyes and ears on the acoustic instruments in long sessions, without recording or fixing the flowing appearances, Delmore FX then tried to remember and replicate said shapes in several takes, subsequently blurring the aural and physical contours of his acoustic souvenirs with randomized audio-to-midi sequencing. The result is an enticing, beguiling sound adventure into the unstable and ill-defined outline of objects where shapes get lost and shift vertiginously at the expense of the listener by means of demented sample superimpositions and crackbrained audio collage.

For who knows the man, Scompaio is further proof of Delmore FX’s successful tentative process & progress in the untimely aural quest against stable configurations of things. An aim obtained with the usual stuttering confidence of a somewhat gitty form of musical rhabdomancy.

German  newcomer  Ausschus  debuts  on  Haunter  Records  with  a  6-track  offering,  throwing  in  elements  from  the  whole  spectrum  of  contemporary  experimental  music.  The  subtle  yet  intense  melodic  work,  put  in  a  place  of  dangerous  acoustic  creatures  (bit-crushed  drones,  metallic  clangs,  slow  hard  beats),  allows  him  to  explore  both  negative  and  positive  affections.  The  main  goal  is  dominance—or  rather,  positive  acceptance—of  melancholia,  using  harsh  frequencies  as  a  crucible  for  one’s  psyche,  teaching  how  to  stand  amidst  the  noise,  breathing  it,  accepting  it  as  nutrition.  It’s  not  a  matter  of  riffing  against  listeners,  but  of  accompanying  them  through  different  rooms,  different  states,  and  molding  them  according  to  their  will  and  sensibility.  Ausschuss’  use  of  space,  reverb  and  harmony  gives  solidity  to  the  sound,  creating  a  proper  environment  in  which  insight  and  growth  can  happen  freely.

inspired by cult film “Johnny Mnemonic”, this track takes place at the boundaries between the digital sound design and melodic electronic music in an attempt to simulate the disturbance generated by actual future machines and human minds submerged in the ocean of data.
in this sense, 2021 is more than a year number, it's a metaphor that represents discomfort and destiny.

xenonyms is proud to present the debut EP by 23-year-old Montreal-based French musician Nathan Germain aka Sprælle (pronounced Sprah-lé).

If you’ve ever played the oft overlooked 1994 SNES classic Wolverine: Adamantium Rage you know that the true pearl of the endeavor is its heavy, low res proto garage soundtrack. Its swinging low end and forced staccato melodies gel into an undeniably groovy and danceable OST that transcends the confines of its intended function. Spraelle’s CRUSH UP EP stomps along in much the same spiritual space, in a beautiful hi fi du jour.

The moss of reverb intact, Intertwined raises in intensity from a predawn glow into an overexposed and harsh space, one which threatens to fall apart with each eroded drum hit as it is smashed in and quickly sucked out again. A vision of tearing metal on metal, experienced in infrared, rapid overpowering of federal forces as they meet with a newly freed and unstoppable para-human entity of their own engineering. Escaping finally from the subterranean tunnel on Quieto, we encounter the only human voice in the entire release; Texas' own Desvelada speaking quietly of conflicting intimacies, disquietude; a memory of meeting someone new, half remembered, half dreamt. On this track we are also offered the most overt groove, loping along, perfect head bob, in a funky trip hop crawl. The start stop cannonade of heavy drums pounds itself into modulating shapes, allowing us occasional moments of respite.

HARSH LUV offers us an ear worm of a lead synth line, echoing chirps gradually land upon dry, gun cocked techno beats and plinking counterpoints culminating in an expansive moment where every component is allowed to dance with the other. Blunted Affect immerses us immediately in the hazy overgrowth of reverb and the implied cavernous locale that we will remain in throughout most of the EP, it’s regal melodies and clicking drums whirring away into noise. Truly free. At last.

Sprælle - HARSH LUV

“Bedlam of Salt” marks the fourth full-length album by Xuri (formerly known as Yuri), a product of the desire to connect and collaborate in a year of absence. From pulsing club ready tracks to contemplative arrangements, Xuri displays her signature sound of playful industrial in a new shared exploration, featuring the dramatic vocals of Lueurs Nocturnes, along with cellist Oliver Vaupel and drummer Hasse Bruun. The listener is transported to a gallery of chimeric illusion, always moving between confinement and release. Travelling through a number of contrasting soundscapes, the album forms an intriguing kaleidoscope of emotive states in a time of disruption.

From the repetitious trance-inducing opening ‘Datura, Luciferin’s Trumpet’ to the high intensity club-fitting anthemic ‘Kali’s Dance’ and the uneasy but tender landing of ‘A Scene of Calx’, the album provides a steady journey into the multifarious unknown, agitating and engaging in an encompassing and dramatic movement.

For the past few years Xuri has made note of herself as one of the clearest new voices in the Copenhagen experimental scene, known for her playful style as well as her techno output as Parietal Eye (out on Mama Snake’s Amniote Editions label) and various collaborations with Internazionale. This latest outing sees her venturing even further into a collaborative space.
