I can't stop listening to this song! After listening I explored Mr Dover and The Endless Rovers, and the album blew me away. 👍 well done.

French producer Obsimo has the quality to plunge us into a dreamlike and vibratory universe. The very palpable power of his techno/pop and cinematographic nature makes his live performances incisive and energetic. This time he joins his forces with Hector Gachan, none other than the first signature on Nice Guys Records four years ago. 

‘Seito’ dilutes time and drags us into dancing and percussive spirals with endless echoes, sublimated by Hector’s voice, timeless and without borders.

A small collection of music produced by or in association with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples. Lew and myself put this mix together in mid 2015 for our radio show on the community broadcaster 3RRR 102.7fm. 

We're hardly in a position to make commentary on the vastly diverse musical cultures that exist across the cities, towns and communities in Australia, but this seemed like a simple way to provide an alternative to the JJJ countdown. We encourage you to have a look and listen for yourself - you'll fine everything from desert reggae to 90s house, and stomping rock. 

Thanks and gratitude to all the musicians involved in these projects, both living and deceased; to C.A.A.M.A. for releasing almost half the songs on this mix, Incite Youth Arts (http://redsandculture.com/) for their excellent compilations, and resources like IndigiTube (http://www.indigitube.com.au/) for a chance to hear these fantastic artists. Thanks to Peter Mumme for providing a deeper understanding of the Waak Waak Jungi project (for which there is a reissue in development). 

The refusal to celebrate Australia Day is part of an ongoing fight for the recognition of first nations people's rights. If nothing else, we hope this mix can serves as an alternative soundtrack for a weekend that otherwise resounds with a the cannons, fireworks and bells of Australia's colonial history. If you are able bodied and free, I encourage you to attend one of the many rallys that will be taking place on the 26th January.

Soundway's at it again! This time with a brand new album from South London's Huw Bennet under his newly established Susso alias. The New Keira LP features music which is inspired by (and directly samples) the magnificent sounds of the Mandinka people, which he recorded during a recent trip to Gambia.

The tracks are composed entirely from original source material, field recordings and Huw’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist; performing tuned percussion from the region including the Mandinka Balafon, Kutiringding drum, as well as drawing on his skill as a professional upright / electric bassist. One of the tracks which best exemplifies his contemporary electronic sound, whilst still paying homage to a traditional Gambian aesthetic has to be Ansumana. It's definitely been a shop favourite ever since the good guys at Soundway sent it over and we can't wait to get our hands on this beautiful release when it arrives next month.
