Derek McCullar aka Eagle Hands is a mystical hip hop producer and emcee living in wild Minnesota.  He was born in southern California and raised in Miami, Florida.  

He recounts his first taste of producing, " I discovered the basics of beat making on an old PlayStation game called MTV Music Generator.  The sounds were weak and the program slow, but I was able to crank out a beat tape by plugging in the audio out cables into my tape recorder."

Then on a Monday night at a local weekly hip hop gathering in Florida, he witnessed an astonishing demonstration of the power of the drum machine. 
  "This guy was getting ready for his set, and he had this strange red box on a table up on stage with him (an ASR 10).  I saw him press a button on the device and simotaniously heard a low and punchy sub kick drum sound fly out the speakers.  I was entranced, and from that moment on, I had to understand and obtain this new and exiting technology." 

From there, Derek eventually discovered the tool that was seemingly created just for him. He purchased an Akai Mpc 2000xl and practically locked himself in his attic studio for years to study and sharpen his sampling, chopping, and composing technics.
