An underworld journey. I wrote these songs to express myself and release the intense pressure of dealing with generational trauma and my own capacity for violence, while simultaneously trying to find my way in a world that's in ecological and societal collapse. This album opens the gates of despair very quickly, and spends its run-time screaming into the void, integrating these awakenings, seeking the wisdom of it, and finding love and encouragement from my family, my friends, and myself. Thank you.

Earnest Jackson is the sexy, spunky, Sydney-based alter ego of Melbourne-born multi-hyphenate Jackson Hurwood — a rapper, singer, performer and all-round showman whose debut EP EARNEST, FOREVER oozes charisma, heartbreak, and funk-drenched swagger.

Influenced by the likes of Tyler, the Creator, Goldlink, Spike Jonze and Mac Miller (with a touch of André 3000-level cheek), Earnest crafts vibey, genre-bending alternative hip hop that’s equal parts catchy, groovy, and outrageously confident. His songs swing from lust-at-first-sight bangers to post-breakup anthems that say, “I’m better off without you” — all delivered with a wink and a strut.

Co-produced with longtime collaborator Tobias Priddle, EARNEST, FOREVER blends late-night smoothness with dancefloor grit. Saxophonist Lochie Thompson features on the lead single “THREEFOUR”, but otherwise, the project is a one-man show — written, rapped, sung, and styled by Earnest himself.

With roots in live performance and a natural flair for storytelling, Earnest Jackson embodies a new kind of masculine energy: loud but thoughtful, sexy but self-aware, and impossible to ignore.
