Patrick Topping returns to Hot Creations with his 'Taking Libz EP' and demonstrates why his reputation carries such weight with three special tracks that act as a master-class in how to create music that will consume dance floors.

First up is 'Brayed' which takes the listener on a loopy and enriching journey, whilst 'Howk' is a classic foot-to-the-floor number. Concluding the EP is 'Taking Libz', the title track that sees Topping firmly hold onto his crown with this unstoppable cut.

i-D Magazine described Patrick’s style "that is characterized by punchy, chugging baselines that have become weapons in the sets of many a DJ." Started his career DJing at the club night Motion in Newcastle, he was quickly snapped up by Jamie Jones, for Hot Creations. Releases on the label and a residency at Paradise DC10 in Ibiza soon followed and 2014 saw him release ‘Get Beasty’, ‘Forget’ and ‘Voicemail’ featuring Green Velvet and concluded with a hattrick of awards including winning the DJ Mag Best Newcomer, Track Of The Season and Best Tune awards in their Best of British Awards.

Saved’s latest release is a debut collaboration with rising artist Lewis Jimenez. The Ibiza based Brit delivers the 2 track Metanoia EP which is characterised by tribal elements, rich bass lines and effective keys. Both tracks have been causing dance floor destruction during the summer and are now here for all to play!

Following a run of releases for his Retrograde label and a track featured on the 100 Dirt Crew Compilation Berlin based DJ and producer Marlon Hoffstadt continues his upwards trajectory, once again enlisting the services of legendary Chicago vocalist Paris Brightledge who recently collaborated with Paranoid London on their "Paris Dub 1 & 2" records.  
 Stepping up first is the original mix of ‘Shattered’ with Hoffstadt and Brightledge delivered a raw, experimental house feel via broken drums breaks, sweeping synth chords and acidic bass chops, whilst Paris’ vocal stylings add a soulful edge to the record. An ‘Instrumental’ mix of ‘Shattered’ follows and as the name would suggest lays focus on the rhythmic and melodic aspects of the composition, shining light on the swinging breaks, emotive string melodies. Lastly to complete the package is ‘Elevate’ which sees Hoffstadt fuse weighty drums and ethereal pad swells with arpeggio synth leads and subtly unfolding intricacies, whilst Brightledge’s understated vocal contributions further fuel the records hypnotic feel.

For its 26th release and first of 2017 East Recordings welcomes back label boss Pablo del Monte with a three-tracker peak time tech-house EP.

2016 was a big year for Pablo with releases on labels like In The Loop, Audiophile Deep, House Grooves, Maison Records and Denied Music, as well as East Recordings establishing itself in the market place in its second year of business.

We’re expecting 2017 to be even bigger.  To kick things of ‘Needing Pleasure’ is a densely layered UK tech-house style track aimed at peak-time big club systems with some hefty sound design and a deep formant vocal topline adding an uplifting moment in an otherwise suitably moody cut.

‘The DJ is my Deacon’ is a much more US tech-house affair and is on a more commercial tip with a highly percussive groove, a celebratory melody and a classic preacher style spoken word vocal topline; all lending well to the kind of track that will work well in Ibiza this summer.

The third track, ‘Bring the Tech Back’, is the most underground with a tough beat, driving sub and dark tech-y sound design coupled with a liberal use of vocal chops including the classic “Bring the funk back” sample and, hence, the word play in the title.

For fans of UK house and tech-house.

East Recordings is an underground house music label established in April 2015.

The label is the imprint of Brick Lane Radio, a radio station and blog set-up in 2013 by an east London DJ collective and headed up by Pablo del Monte. Its sound lies on the deep-house-techhouse-accessible techno spectrum. But rather than being restricted to specific genres East Recordings seeks two common elements in the music it signs: tight grooves and musicality. So whether it be the proper house vibes of Pablo del Monte or Thallulah, William Medagli & Jose Maria's contemporary take on techno dance floor-orientated beats and musicianship are at the forefront of the qualities you will hear.

Alongside a roster of more established artists East Recordings prides itself at unearthing new artists.  And in an era of throw-away releases the label takes its time A&Ring quality music and sticks to a monthly release schedule, ensuring high standards in terms of both output and artist liaison.   East Recordings has also invested in building relationships with the key stores, especially Traxsource and Juno, over time ensuring that releases receive support from these platforms.  

This coupled with the quality of the music has meant that the last twenty East Recordings releases have all charted with numerous top 30s and a handful of top 10s along the way. Our most successful releases to-date are Pablo del Monte's 'House to House' which spent months in the charts after being supported heavily by Marco Carola at his Music On night, and Granite State's 'Tuku' which got picked up on by Mark Knight and was played in episode 367 of his Toolroom Radio Show on Spotify.
