Formed in 1999 in Wellington, New Zealand our sound draws inspiration from almost every part of the black music lexicon. Soul drenched vocals and jazz harmonies collide with tape delays and echo chambers, underpinned by a rhythm section as comfortable laying down a throbbing, techy soundscape as they are a swampy blues stomp.

East Roots started as a sound system based in Bucharest, Romania, in the year 2010, the original members of the sound where/ Selecta B aka Mistah B, Boogie or Mistah who came back to his Romanian roots and started the project with / Dani / I Seba / Ras T 

Mistah in collaboration with a band began to work on some of the songs he write and went together in different live concerts under the same name. Sound System and Band worked together in the year 2010. 

East Roots project continued the band only with the musicians and Mistah as lead singer, they performed around Romania, Ukraine, Moldavia and shared the stage with several artist from other country's as ... Alborosie, Gentleman, Dub Incorporation, Nas, Nneka, True Ingredients, Conquering Lion etc... 

In 2011 the band came with an EP who was well received by the Romanian public and had a great success. 

In 2012 they released a first album "From the east to the west", East Roots passed on Radio stations and went on different Tv shows that make the band grow bigger and bigger in Romania 

Till the end of 2013 East Roots was one of the first Romanian reggae bands but the musicians decide to make a side project and left East Roots

2014 ... East Roots is back to the Sound System style with his founder Mistah and is building a new reggae family ... stay tuned ;)
