Our downtempo is back! 

We are very happy to finally be able to present Kalitos & VBRTNS's Easy Tiger debut release. Their song ‘Regular Exercise’ reminds us of exactly the slow and powerful sound that inspired us to start releasing downtempo songs in the first place. 

But who should remix slow and powerful songs? That's right: GYRL and Katabtu. It's an honour for us to have them on board.

In 1994, a young Kalitos embarked on his musical adventure, wielding a violin that would become the first brushstroke on his canvas of sound. Over the years, the violin's melody proved to be just the beginning of an incredible story. Kalitos, never one to rest on his laurels, expanded his horizons by mastering the guitar and subsequently collaborating with numerous bands and projects.

It wasn't until 2003 that he stumbled upon his true calling, Electronic Music, a genre that would become the heartbeat of his creative journey. From that pivotal moment, Kalitos has honed his skills as a DJ and producer, specializing in the intoxicating realms of Deep House and Techno.

His talent and passion for this genre have taken him to countless clubs across Germany and even as far as the vibrant city of Lisbon, where audiences have enthusiastically embraced his refreshing sound, spanning the spectrum from deep, soulful grooves to heavy, pulsating beats.

For Kalitos, music is all about contrasts. He skillfully weaves a tapestry of musical elements, creating a sonic experience that keeps the audience on their toes and their hearts racing.

This commitment to diversity and juxtaposition is what sets Kalitos apart as an artist who is always pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo.

Spährisch schwirrende Synthie-Sounds, treibende Tiefen und prägnante Percussions fließen in den Sets von schwalheim ineinander. Zwischen düsteren Einflüssen aus Dark Disco und verträumt-verspielten Elementen des Downtempo liegt zumeist eine leichte Stimmung positiver Melancholie, die in seiner Idealvorstellung die Menschen ein wenig zueinander führt und in wohlige Gedanken hüllt.
In seiner (Sch)Wahlheimat Jena kommt schwalheim seiner Leidenschaft als DJ und Veranstalter nach. Da es in der Stadt keinen Raum für seine Leidenschaft für Downtempo gab, gründete er vor einigen Jahren mit ein paar Mitstreitern das Downtempo-Kollektiv Easy Tiger. Seitdem sind sie prägender Bestandteil der Jenaer Subkultur und zunehmend auch außerhalb Jenas anzutreffen.

Go with the flow... and listen to your gut feeling while doing so! Dolph pays heed to this wisdom, both in life and in music.
His productions reveal an original sound that’s unique to him - one that stems from many influences, and yet doesn’t follow any of its rules - only his gut. His production career has roots in Hip Hop and Electronica - but his passion for melancholia of all kinds has driven him to produce music that reflects his musical evolution over time. With a knack for twisting rhythms and sound structures around one another, he shows a noticeable disregard towards style conventions - choosing to craft his own personal taste in beats that are gradually becoming more linear. An irresistible catchiness pulsates amongst rich bass lines and distinct melodies, intertwining energetic grooves with percussions in soundscapes that are electronic yet experimental, subtle and slow. No matter the tempo he’s moving in, it’s easy to recognize his music, which usually oscillates between a playful happy vibe and dreamy melancholia.
His productions have been released on labels such as Akumandra, Amselcom and the label that supported him from the very beginning -  Acker Records.
