This was my jingle engineering audition session for Edd Kalehoff Music in 1979. 3 x :60 TV spots and 24 edited variations, in a one day session.  Edd Kalehoff -keys, Richie Crooks -drums, Brian Brake -bass, Andy Schwartz -guitar, Hank Jaramillo -percussion, Gene Bianco -harp, Alan Rubin, Lou Marini, Tom Malone -horns, the Gene Orloff string section, and these singers. Got to do this almost every day for 5 years.

This rare promotional teaser was written and recorded by the music deity known as Edd Kalehoff, creator of all the iconic The Price Is Right music. This track accompanied some late 1970s land-buying scheme in, you guessed it, FLORIDA!

The Promise Of Florida (Edd Kalehoff Jingle) 1970

This is the teletype theme that was used at ABC News for various programs: Nightline, 20/20 and most famously, World News Tonight. In 1979 World News Tonight stopped using this theme as its main theme, but ABC used it until about 1996 for News Briefs. It’s the first electronic news theme. Electronic music became popular in part thanks to the Moog Music, which released the first relatively affordable  synthesizer in 1970. Before that time, most music was played by live instruments. Score Productions’ Edd Kalehoff used the Moog Synthesizer for The Price Is Right theme which is still on the air today. They also used it for a number of other game show themes from that era. When ABC was looking for something different, Score Productions offered theme a Moog-produced news theme. Though it did not stick around as long as the The Price Is Right theme, it certainly is an incredibly memorable theme.

World News Tonight 1978 (remade)

In the mid 70s, Edd Kalehoff of Score Productions was my most admired composer-arranger. I would watch "The (New) Price Is Right" mostly to hear his work. This is a jammin' compilation of the many versions of the most memorable pieces from 1973-1975.
