Wow, awesome sound! I love the intertwining guitars and the drums. Why did you decide to have the vocal more dry in comparison to the other instruments?

As Elephants Are follow last October’s release of the “Crystal” single (BBC Radio 1 Zane Lowe ‘Next Hype’), with the brand new 4-track “Hand Prints” EP.

With past releases being described as everything from “sinister” (This Is Fake DIY), to “Life affirming” and “Magical” (the 405) to “Wonderfully dreamy” (Time Out London), EP title track ‘Hand Prints’ develops further the band’s ability to write nagging melodies wrapped in barbed wire rhythms. EP title track “Hand Prints” has already racked up over 25,000 plays on Soundcloud and plays on BBC Radio 1 from Huw Stephens and Jen & Ally as well as playlists on XFM and Amazing Radio. EP track “Went Wrong” has also given the band its first US radio play courtesy of KCRW.

On the live front, 2013 saw As Elephants Are play their debut slot at the Reading and Leeds Festival on the BBC Introducing Stage as well as appearing at Bushstock and Southsea Festival and supporting Half Moon Run. On 31st March 2014 the band completed their first headline UK Tour. The 10-date tour culminated in the band’s first proper London headline show at The Sebright Arms on 31st March. A Summer of festival appearances now beckons with the following shows already announced and more to follow:

'2001' is out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control.

Taking its name from Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the track '2001' also references science fiction writer Jack Vance and John Carpenter's film The Thing (1982). Carla explains the meaning behind the song - "2001 is about escapism through old movies and books that I loved as a kid. Those paired with songwriting serve as the best form of catharsis for me."

Easy Kill (Theo Tobias, Ronan Clowes, Alex Howes, Andrew Keaveny and Samuel Wall) are an English alternative rock band from Manchester, that formed in 2013. 

Their songs are rich and melodic; gently building to capture moments of clarity and catharsis. Tobias’ lyrics celebrate our often-stigmatised internal lives as he lays himself bare. The band’s name then aptly refers to an ‪Elliott Smith‬ line suggesting thoughtful people are inherently vulnerable.

Having previously released two EPs and a self-produced LP to critical recognition and national radio play, Easy Kill recorded their second album, Slow Release, predominantly live at Manchester’s iconic Blueprint Studios. It’s set to arrive sometime in 2020. For fans of The National, ‪Big Thief‬, Death Cab For Cutie, Grizzly Bear and Anthony & The Johnsons.
