No longer a fledgling artist, Anthea is now firmly at the forefront as one of house and techno’s leading DJ and production talents.

Once a fixture behind the counters of London’s Flying Records and Phonica Records, the recent Berlin transplant has been honing her tastemaker’s ear for the better part of 15 years. Anthea built a reputation as arguably the most in-demand female DJ in London, and now she disseminates her distinct brand of funk-fuelled music to every corner of the globe, as a world-renowned DJ, an artist for Cecille, Phonica, Freak n Chic and Desolat, as vocalist and collaborator alongside many of the scene’s underground heroes, and as the A&R expert behind the sound of Brouqade Records.

Anthea’s rise from the East London club scene to international tours in the U.S., Europe and South America is a direct result of her talent and determination. Word of her roof-raising sets at local institutions like Fabric and T-Bar landed her coveted podcasts with Ibiza Voice and Pulse Radio, followed by repeat appearances at Watergate in Berlin, Harry Klein in Munich, Underground in Ibiza, and Gipsy in Moscow to name a select few. Though she casts her net wide, Anthea remains a DJ first and foremost, and this shines through her infectious performances for leading clubs and festivals around the world.

Casting an eye over Anthea’s productions, it’s clear that value lies in their worth, and not their quantity; all of her releases and remixes have been carefully selected, and associations with Freak ‘n Chic, Phonica, All Inn, One Records, Desolat and air london speak to her esteem among the scene’s leading labels. Anthea’s keen sense for mood, groove, and sleek sound aesthetics saw early efforts on Supplement Facts and Tuningspork, and further releases on Supernature and Bootleg. As a solo artist Anthea continues to develop a style that is very much her own: falling somewhere between house and techno, and always deep, tribal and bassline-driven.

Anthea’s collaborations with close friend Alex Celler have produced more than a little musical chemistry, and two years on, their track “The Playmaker” still holds its place as one of Resident Advisor's Top 40 tracks of all time. Anthea has complemented this by joining forces with Werner Niedermeier as JC Freaks, resulting in a run of deep and classy EPs for Mojuba and Wandering. Her recent feature and vocal work on Guti’s album Patio de Juegos, as well as her collaboration with fellow Berliner and label partner-in-crime Dana Ruh on “Finally” are further evidence of her collaborative talents in the studio.  

As one third of Berlin’s young and uprising Brouqade Records — alongside Dana Ruh and Ann M Cazal — Anthea’s inherently sharp A&R perspective has resulted in a string of fresh and exciting new artists being brought to the fore as the artists of tomorrow, with label showcases high in demand.

While currently busy with a program of Brouquade showcases which promise a number of high-profile guests in the near future, further Anthea releases on Crazyjack, Mobilee, Desolat, Kina and of course Brouqade are all in the pipeline.

With an emphasis on creating, and not imitating, Anthea has laid more than solid foundations for herself in 2013, and beyond that there lies nothing but an inspired future.

Just Realize. Podcast 002 - Anthea

“When you play and produce stuff like I do, you instantly become an outsider” says Croatian DJ Mariano Mateljan. Hailing from a country soaked in media hype and a clubbing consensus interested in big name, tech-house – the young Croat isn’t making music to satisfy the masses. Turning away bouncy tech-funk in favour of a lo-fi, murky sound, Mariano’s deep aesthetic and atmospheric touches are displayed in abundance for his exclusive MEOKO mix. Heralding the same raw, heads down and moody aesthetic of American contemporaries such as Amir Alexander and Marcelus Pittman, the mix's pace notches up slowly as the timbres and sonics creep out from the shadows, placing the focus on simple yet effective percussion and a thick underbelly of bottom heavy sub bass.

For our next release we are treated with a diverse 4-track EP by Ghettofaust. After his first appearance on the label last month we are excited to announce his 'End Of The Earth' EP. A diverse yet synth-driven EP showcasing the diversity Ghettofaust is capable of. Starting off we have 'Zugzwang', a mellow dub-infused groovy house track. Following is the title track 'End Of The Earth'. Spooky pads, classic house stabs & a solid warm bassline, the perfect recipe for a proper house record. Diving deeper into the EP we are greeted by the synth-infused techno track 'Mea Culpa'. A bit reminiscent of older Vince Watson productions, the tune layers a lot of different elements together creating an atmospheric & melodic rhythmic record, the true definer of Ghettofaust's style & abilities. Rounding off the EP we stay in the techno area with 'Feierabend'. Proper grooves, dubby stabs and a latin guitar to give the track an unusual twist. 'End Of The Earth' is out on all major platforms on the 29th of August.

Lyra is DeWaltas fourth large project and third full-length album following Wander in 2012 (on Haunt), llumination in 2014 (on Meander) and Dark Matter in 2017 (on Amphia).

The album consists of two individually available parts: a double LP (Lyra) with 6 tracks on Meander as well as a single LP (Lyra Pi) with 5 synth and ambient works. The Ambient-Part launches a new Meander Horizon Pi series-- a departure from Meander’s well known dancefloor releases.

Lyra is by far DeWaltas most extensive and refined project to date. With 11 exclusive songs, a total running time of over 100 minutes - plus a collaboration with long time friend and Meander co-owner Fabian Geimer-Lorusso aka. Jupiter - it marks a new beginning of ambient and score-like modern works as well as the continuation of his inspired intellectual-emotional approach to dance music.

Lyra is a star-constellation in the northern hemisphere which is highest in the midnight sky in the early summer months. It contains one of the brightest stars in the sky - Vega. Many of the songs on this album were produced in these warm and gentle months during an inspirational creative time in Portugal.

In Greek mythology, Lyra represents the Lyre of Orpheus, Apollo’s son. Made by Hermes from a tortoise-shell, it was given to Apollo who then passed it along to Orpheus. It is said to be the first music instrument ever made.
