Within the labyrinthine concrete tunnels that sprawled out beneath the city pattered the soft footfalls of an expert infiltrator who moved with grace in contrast to their brutalist construction. Muffled by advanced technology, her movements would have been imperceptible anywhere else save for the desolate emptiness of this place. Another might be driven mad by the path she now walked as it circled and turned with no end in sight, but she had come determined. Hidden within this labyrinth was a vault of minosian value, containing a vast wealth of technical secrets her employer had paid much to acquire. Taking a moment to orient herself, she pondered what might truly be of value enough to be hidden within such a massive complex. Then she chuckled, remembering that the rich always wanted the same thing. “LASERS & STUFF”, she scoffed “All they ever care about is the lasers.

After sometime more spent within the byzantine tunnel complex, a new sight availed itself to the infiltrator. One tunnel ran straight forwards, terminating at a massive set of double titanium doors. Interspersed between her and that threshold lay a number of grids of light, burning blue-hot within the otherwise dimmed atmosphere of the tunnels. Within her mind sprung a reverie of another time, thoughts of the “spies” of old who had used all sorts of tricks to reveal hidden laser grids protecting their prize. Once more a grin came to her face. “That was before the lasers could kill” she thought as she altered her protective suit, disabling its mufflers and activating its muscular augmentation functionality. Returning her mind’s gaze to the matter at hand, she crouched low in preparation for the coup de grace. With little more than a twitch, she catapulted forth from her position, cracking the concrete beneath her under the force of her launch. With impossible speed she shot through the laser grids which had lain before her, the bite of their photons barely scratching the surface of her suit as they found but a miniscule moment’s purchase upon its surface. Powered by the momentum of her leap, the infiltrator’s fist connected with the center of the titanium doors, blowing them off their hinges with pure kinetic energy. Before her lay a small box upon a single pedestal, what seemed a token reward for her efforts. With nary a thought for its contents she attached it to her suit before once more catapulting towards the exit. The rich could depend on their LASERS & STUFF all they wanted, she thought. People like her would always find a way to beat them.

A-CRAY returns to the EATBRAIN label with the release of his 3 track LASERS & STUFF EP in an electric continuation of his previous audio assaults through the label. The titular LASERS & STUFF rings with the pulsar bursts of a bright snare that emanate above a deviously warped lead and strutting beat. PROXY’s overcharged bassline draws on an endless source of cyclical energy as it rises alongside a racing melody in an energetic fusion, whilst WASTED FUNK’s chromatic lead and frenzied percussion close the EP as they deliver a devastatingly weighty halftime audio sequence driven by its debauched bassline rhythm. With LASERS & STUFF, A-CRAY marks his first full solo EP on the EATBRAIN label charged with his unique sonic energy.

MINDSCAPE brings his unique and fierce take on d&b back to his home label with REANIMATOR CHAPTER ONE on EATBRAIN, the first part of a series of 3 EPs, that culminate in the REANIMATOR LP. As one of the imprint’s most recognisable figureheads, Mindscape deftly demonstrates why that’s the case with the 4 tracks within delivering distinct and succinctly powerful ideas to the table. MANBEARPIG carries a swagger dripping with pure and deliberately paced attitude, whilst SHUT DOWN (feat. COPPA) rides on a fast-moving bassline and percussive flurry. An endless darkness beckoned ahead, a deep void beyond that held its own gravity, pulled him ahead one paw at a time. Beneath his furry exterior, tucked in the warmth of tightly woven layers of the cotton, the fast beating of his organic heart pulsated nervously, stretching his chest stitches at the seams with its urgency in a constant rhythm. The shadows of the passage flickered in deathly silence over the uniform blackness of his glass bead eyes. Something was out there. He withdrew, sinking into the warm folds of a distant memory – being dropped by his skin companion, and the fuss that followed the soft hairless ones surrounding him with hushed cries, picking him up and dusting him off, holding him close and pressing him back into the fat pink digits of the little one as she kissed him on the eye and promised never to drop him again. The sound of tearing fabric pulled him at once back into the stark reality that faced him, as he looked down in horror at the cotton spilling from his shoulder… his arm slowly tumbling to the floor and landing with a soft and almost noiseless thud against the bleak floor. As he was still registering the beginnings of his own separation, the vast blade swung again – leaving him staggering in his new confusing balance, a furry torso on legs, wobbling unsteadily in the darkness. Then his vision fell forward, he was looking at himself… was that his armless body in front of him? How was it possible? His simple mind was reeling as his head went tumbling toward the floor, spinning as it dropped. The glint of the HELLBLADE caught his eye as his attacker stepped into the light, a hideous body of stacked limbs and rough stitches, cotton spilling out of the seams of its fur… the antithesis of innocence loomed heavily across the dying creature, the glint of his glass eyes faded as the TEDDY KILLER looked coldly upon its meaningless end.

One of Russia’s biggest drum and bass exports, TEDDY KILLERZ, return to the unstoppable EATBRAIN label in a massive way, following up their VIOLENCE EP of 2013 with their viciously modern HELLBLADE EP. Featuring 5 tracks of pure insanity, the Teddy Killerz crew surpass their original outing on the label in brutal style. Here was something wrong with his latest creation. It sat very still, staring with tense eyes at him in silence as he leant over the altar of his work. His instruments glinted with the reflected gold of the candle flames that lit his space, the cradle of life where he replanted embers of consciousness in the infertile grounds of the dead. Up until now they had stirred into reality with the confused motion of limbs, eyes rolling and hands moving desperately along the cracks of the floor and the edges of the doorway, seeking fervently a way out. But this one was different – her eyes had snapped sharply open, she sat upright, and since that moment her stillness tainted the room with a quiet malice. Her eyes followed him as he moved, inspecting his work beyond an arm’s length. The black pits of her pupils like twin gravity wells, cold tendrils reaching out and compelling him closer as though death’s hand brushed the back of his neck and whispered timeless truths with a whisper into his ear. He drew back, looking down at the dark blood on his hands as her eyes flicked over them. Reaching behind him, he grasped his chair, sitting down slowly, his legs trembling slightly before buckling beneath his weight. The oppression of her stare bore down upon him.

The relentless shuffle of MINDSCAPE's deadly REANIMATOR LP continues, as the ultimate power of Chapter II is unleashed on the EATBRAIN listener base. Bringing the next 4 tracks of what's turning out to be one of neurofunk's most solid albums, Mindscape's veteran experience shines through on each of the cuts, with his awareness of where the frontier of the genre lies sharpening the blades of his beautifully frenetic assault. The mass of supplicants prostrated just beyond its twisted paws, their pathetic mewling pleasantly caressing the towering feline fiend’s ears as they expressed their divine agony. Drinking up the delicious earmilk of their pain, it reclined languidly in its glorious pedestal; a mass of flesh and sinews with the fine carved bones from the countless many condemned to this realm of eternal torment. Its three eyes rolled apathetically to fall upon one particular beggar, drained of almost all remaining life from her years pennance, spent at the foot of the infernal throne, worshipping the glory of pain in all its truth and crying for salvation. The utter futility of this endeavor suddenly dawned on the great cat, as the constancy of myriad calls made for escape fell upon his ears at once. Suddenly annoyed by this ever-present sound, he reached out, spearing the pathetic being before him with a claw and flinging her from into rock and into the depths of the molten river below. His eyes watched her form ignite and fade in the heat, her soul joining others to be swept into its current on a journey to be reborn as pitiful lesser devils elsewhere in the plane. How benevolent an act, the cat thought to itself, freeing the pitiful creature from her suffering for a brief moment and more even - giving her the opportunity of such an esteemed metamorphosis. Even though the pathetic fiend she would be reborn as would hold not even a candle to his own magnificence, it would still be a marked improvement against the limits of her prior flesh. Sated by his own thoughts, he leaned forward once, rotating his vast ears to better drink in the fresh desperate energy of the remaining supplicants. Its hideous mouth opened to a wide, sharp smile, revealing cruelly serrated fangs that shone unnaturally with a umbral hue. “A reward for my benevolence,” he thought as he plucked the nearest wretch from the rock with a single talon, his pupils sharpening with focussed malevolence as he tossed them into his fur-lined maw. Satisfied, his hunger temporarily sated, there was but one thing left to do. He would take a nap.

The ZOMBIE CATS return to the label that set the fire on their ferocious project back in 2014, placing them on a fierce trajectory of furiously kinetic releases that have brought them to the present, their most pointed assault on the eardrums yet with the WORLD’S END EP on EATBRAIN. With the title track tearing out of the mouth of hell with slower bpm but highly charged energy, further establishing the newly forming neurowave genre, the cats make a bold statement from the outset. Also featuring 2 intense collaborations with masters of their art ABIS and MALUX, alongside 3 further astounding intensely fresh solo cuts, the WORLD’S END EP is a welcome return for one of tech dnb’s most respected duo’s, on one of the genres most consistent labels. The end is here, and it’s one hell of a ride.

They had drifted through the depths of space for an eternity, a trio of titanic constructions forged upon the surface of a faraway planet. The vast expanse through which they floated was to be their final resting place, the only prison that could contain their colossal strength. Their towering forms were shaped in the image of the most feared predators of their homeworld, hulking chasis of metal with a visage of primal power. Though they appeared to sleep within the infinite blackness of space, an extensive network of sensors worked constantly within their cores, searching constantly for the signs of life that would allow their mechanical hosts to continue their prime directive. As they passed an yet another planetary system, their constant toil bore fruit, detecting life upon an otherwise barren orbital body. In an instant, the massive machines were revitalized by the signals that coursed within them. From their forms shone with a brilliant cyan hue, granting them the appearance of a falling star as they descended towards the surface below.

The automatons stood silently upon landing, monolithic in their stature which dwarfed that of the colony below. Panicked rumors spread quickly throughout the colony’s inhabitants as all attempted to guess what had brought the titans to this world. As these rumors spread, so too did a sound, one new to the surface of this world. Beginning as a diminutive hum, its strength steadily increased until it began to shake the foundations of the settlement and the will of those within before ceasing in a single instant, allowing just enough respite to consider its function. Then burst forth the full fury of the trio, as from their eyes shot forth photon rays which sliced through the colony on a razor’s edge, cleaving its buildings in twain. In the low gravity present upon the planetoid the rubble created by their conquest hung in the air, oddly still in contrast to the ensuing chaos. The titans lumbered forwards through this maze of destruction, accompanying their lethal lightshow with the weight of their booming steps in pursuit of the masses who fled beneath them. A frantic scramble had begun amongst the colonists, as each rushed without care for any other towards the nearest planetary shuttles, only to see them atomized in turn by the rays which swept through the city. The titans let none escape their gaze as they pursued their programming with relentless efficiency, razing the once burgeoning colony to a mere layer of ash upon the surface of the planetoid.. As they targeted the final structure left standing, their sensors picked up an outbound signal transmitted from within. A single weak voice echoed a refrain they had heard before, a descriptive combination based upon their ursine appearance and murderous methodology. ‘They’re TEDDY KILLERZ” the voice shrieked into the transmitter, “and they can’t be stopped!”

The TEDDY KILLERZ make their return to the EATBRAIN with the release of the CHOPPING MACHINES EP, following the impactful release of their earlier HELLBLADE EP on the label. DROP IT struts out of the gate with a bombastic neurofunk beat, whilst the title track CHOPPING MACHINES slices samples and basses with a flurry of sharp edged cuts. JESTER darkens the atmosphere before launching into a similarly fast paced assault, whilst AFRIKA takes a roots based approach to its production. The closing track, STELLAR, is an electric slice of halftime that radiates futuristic energy. Representing a multifaceted approach towards a further expansion of their sound, CHOPPING MACHINES sees the TEDDY KILLERZ in true dynamic form.
