After a long thought who should remix one of Jindra's most played tracks the choice came upon the french duo Katharsys even though some other names were considered. And the result? Exactly as it was planned and precisely how Katharsys do their best: perfect mixdown, massive bass accompanied by their characteristic kick-drum and snare = all mixed in way that would blow your balls to the Moon. We gotta warn you it is not recommended for people with epilepsy because they might suffer from scattered, while still straight-cutting beats. 'Rat Pack' immediately sets the vibe with satisfying plucked keys atop pattering drums and ominous atmosphere. Mindscape doesn't wait for listeners to get comfortable before unleashing two hulking bassline punches on the downbeat, setting the stage for the remainder of the tune. The intro draws to a close, and equally distorted bassline counterparts come into focus. 'Rat Pack' gets serious as aggressive drums converge with riotous vocal snippets to create a potently anarchic concoction. Melodic components descend downward, with a sense of hopelessness. A descent into madness, no doubt.

The quickly climbing UK based producer, Artifact, drops two room-rattling Neurofunk tunes to mark his first appearance with the Nocid Business brand. Mind bending beats with a captivating ethos is common territory for Artifact and this release lives up to that expectation.

Kickstarting the EP is ‘Unleashed’, a wild track bursting with energy driven by buzzing bass and dark pads that set the ominous tone. This industrial monster is a hard one so prepare to feel the weight of its disposition.

Second on the EP is ‘Dystopia’, a dark techy track that punches with incisive drums and crunchy bass that billows out into the airwaves. This entrancing piece bridges the gap between the robotic and the organic with twanged string melodies, hollow hand drums, and glitched chants engulfed by snarling patches. With an ever-changing presence you may as well keep this one on repeat.

The beginning of 2015 sees Czech producer Qo deliver his debut solo EP for Eatbrain. Over the last few years, he's become one of the strongest voices in hard drum & bass, owing to his expert skills in the studio - where he's carved out a distinct, aggressive brand of neurofunk - as well as the DJ booth. After absolutely smashing his debut Eatbrain track earlier this year ('Killcode') it seemed only fitting that he deliver several more.

'Cyber Ninja' sees Qo joined by fellow Czech bassline technician Computerartist. Both producers' talent for sound design is immediately apparent, from the futuristic intro to the dynamic, pumping sub-bass throughout.

Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. To be released on January 26th via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, it marks an exciting start to 2015.

Lead track ‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs that underpin dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops.

Second track ‘Until The World Ends’ proves once again both acts’ enduring versatility - kicking off with a bass-heavy dubstep tones complimented by vocal duties from State Of Mind’s fellow New Zealander PNC, before

switching to a manic, intelligently structured groove for the remainder.

‘Bad’ opens with progressive percussion and softly-worked synths that move euphorically to a pounding drum break, whilst fourth track ‘Jack Nicholson’, featuring an imitable sample of the man himself, is a bass-fuelled shockwave of a track. Final track.

‘Moonbox’ closes the EP in true Blackout fashion, with signature frenetic beats and firing drums rounding off proceedings in style.

Black Sun Empire have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long term accomplices State Of Mind - whom released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via the label earlier this year - feeds into the hype surrounding Blackout as the label looks ahead to 2015.
