It began as a whisper, spoken in low tones in multiple languages in the uneasy night. Talk of a place where the greatest of mecha roam, gathering amongst the desolate ruins of a war prepared for and never fought. The first explorers returned with stories of low frequency weapons, harvested from the ruined depths of a subterranean complex. With these re-engineered into towering relays capable of pure sonic carnage, the lands began filling rapidly with pilgrims from distant places, offering themselves as captives to their own higher mental states. What was once a mere whisper has now become legend, with this meeting of the mightiest clans bringing forth the greatest frequency warriors to stake out their claims. 

EATBRAIN casts a long shadow across the fray, setting seasoned label veterans L 33 and MINDSCAPE into the hordes of adrenaline-fuelled ravers alongside recent label additions MACHINECODE and AGRESSOR BUNX - all of whom have LPs coming on the label as well as appearing at the festival. A tight manifesto is stretched across the 4 rowdy and high-energy tracks that make up the EATBRAIN GOES TO LET IT ROLL, with the irresistible audio manipulative skills of Eatbrain crafted to exquisitely tear up the dance. The world’s biggest drum &amp; bass festival is approaching and with it comes some of the scene’s most formidable imprints. With over two decades of experience, Ram has heralded the genre since its inception. And this year, they’ll be taking over the insanely engineered Factory stage with a line up like no other, featuring the heaviest names across their roster.

In celebration of their stage takeover, the imprint has provided four fresh cuts to whet your appetite. In association with the festival, they’ve picked a host of names to provide a soundtrack to your summer.

Up first comes the long awaited release of Calyx &amp; TeeBee’s ‘Get it Twisted’. Following the runaway success of their 2nd LP on Ram, this is a welcome follow up, with reverberating LFO which flicks between the vocal talents of Calyx himself. Proving they’re kingpins of the game, there’s no better way to reintroduce you to Ram’s most resounding veterans.

Then the monumental collaboration between Rene LaVice and Current Value rolls out next. A pairing seldom seen, they bring together two varying styles that merge to create something both irrevocably huge and drivingly dynamic. With Rene’s tell-tale production standard merged with the gritty, tech-infused sounds of Current Value, ‘Calm the Fuck Down’ is anything but a wind down.

June Miller’s slice of stabbing bass ‘Spin Test’ is exactly what you’d expect; ingenious in its design, with pounding drum loops amongst a tightly knit composition. A duo who come with no apologies, they’ve been on the genre’s forefront since with debut 'Robots & Romans’ LP, and this next output proves they’re here to stay.

Changing the tone slightly is Ram Records guest Madface, who once again teams up with Janine Small for a stunning vocal number that provides a lighter hue. Soft pads and vocal crescendos bring you deep into the mix, demonstrating Madface’s ability to encapsulate the versatile sounds of the spectrum’s lighter end.

So, let Ram take you into Prague this summer… As the countdown is on until this year’s biggest drum &amp; bass festival detonates subs and ear drums globally.

The depth of the forest was unknown to those who lived at its verge. Shadows cast from the dense canopy seemed to reach out towards those who passed close by, wisps of darkness unfurling and twisting around the limbs of the youngest that dared to play at its sinister edge. The oldest stories of its roots passed across the creaking voices of the town pensioners hunched in the safety of others, discretely whispered and shot through with fearful looks. The allure of that dense and ancient place stretched back eternal, and bitter consequence waited for those who breached its dark heart.  The crew ignored the nonsense of such crones, pulling the carts of equipment under the cover of dusk until the sounds of the town were but a memory. The speaker stacks were raised against the night, strings of lights hung between the trees and purity of disturbed bass rolled against the surrounding trunks as they disentangled themselves from the mundane fiber of the lives they left behind. Twisting against one another as they let flood serotonin delight, they ignited an orgy of sonic symbiosis as the rave found its wings and took flight. The spores drifted imperceptibly into the clearing from the darkness around, lodging without discomfort in the eyes, ears and noses of the gathered young. And then the screaming started, the undulating mass of the gathering turned inward… devouring itself as limbs were separated from bodies, necks ripped as skin tore loose and the blood flowed freely over the gnashing faces of those left alive at the KILL PARTY… 
  
GYDRA return to EATBRAIN in force, following up their well-received CYBORG EP with the dynamic, darkly driven but funk-laced assault of the KILL PARTY EP. From the old-school drenched piano and ultrafunk of the title track, to the playful sinister intent of PRIMITIVE INSTINCT, the filthy sub explorations of PROBLEM and the predatory sensibilities of IKRA – the 4 tracks within display the dynamic and exploratory character of the production outfit. This is Russian neurofunk at its finest, delivered on the platform that’s tailored exactly to the premiere kinetic nature of its content.
