Born atop the forgotten ruins of a crumbling city, a new civilization had emerged from the ruin wrought by demonkind upon the landscape that lay beneath them. Lead by their prophets of a new and powerful faith, the people of this civilization had risen up against the demon kings, wielding the magic of their divine allies as weapons with which to exorcise their being once more from the land. This war though hard fought had born fruit, and with the slaying of the final demon the people had rejoiced, celebrating their victories with monumental constructions to mark the beginning of a new and golden era. Foremost of these was the great cathedral that lay at the heart of their new city, built both as a space of worship for the populace and as an eternal ward of imprisonment for the souls of demonkind which could not be slain, forever condemning them to an incorporeal existence under the watchful eye of the divine.

Ages had passed since then, and time had once again ground its steady edge against the minds of the people and upon the stones and timbers that had supported the great city for so long. Ritual had been forgotten, and structures of greater grandeur had been built as the city expanded, relegating it’s once monumental cathedral to neglect. Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

EATBRAIN unleashes the full fury of their horde with the fourth installment in their DIVERGENCE compilation series, a gargantuan 26 track compilation filled to the brim with new tracks from EATBRAIN mainstays and newcomers alike. Brought together by their affinities for EATBRAIN’s unrestrained neurofunk sound, the artists within deliver a tour de force of the label’s guiding philosophy with ferocious basslines and terrifying sonic atmospheres alike, delivering a mammoth series of tracks set to inspire the fervor of the label’s horde in the months to come.

Making only a minute splash, a pair of sandaled feet landed in the murky waters of the city’s sewer system. Their owner winced slightly as his first step squelched upon the sodden and soggy soil that coated the ground within these grand pipes, but redoubled his focus with the knowledge that their labyrinthine network would provide him with a means to sneak into the castle unseen, undetected, and with minimal resistance. Assured in this knowledge, he strode forwards with confidence, undeterred by the murky and fetid environment in which he now traveled.

After some time in the sewers, the ronin became aware that he was being watched. From the most shadowed corners of the system's most cavernous corridors, he began to catch glimpses of sickly yellow eyes that followed him not with the vigilance of man but with the ravenous hunger of a beast. As he quickened his pace, he felt only more and more of these eyes upon him and began to rush through the passages in search of a glimmer of light. Finding it deep beneath the grated cover of a street-level vent, he turned to face his would-be assailants and found them on all sides; feral rats of a gargantuan size that dripped noxious poisons from the rotted enamel of their exposed teeth. As he assumed a defensive posture, the ronin grinned beneath the wide brim of his armored hat. It had been some time since he had been able to test his skills against an enemy this numerous, and his blade hungered to cleave through the soft hides of these rodents of unusual size. Thus it was that as the horde came upon him, his battle cry echoed upwards to the street above with glee, alongside the frenzied screeching of the swarm that fell like grass before his honed blade. Even within this melee, however, the ronin could not shake the feeling that he was being watched again, now by more human eyes. As the penultimate rat fell before his blade, a thunderous explosion reverberated throughout the tunnel, silencing the chamber he stood within. As his gaze traveled upwards, it followed a thin trail of smoke from the silver barrel of a six-shooter upwards to the brims of two hats, wide like his own but made of leather rather than straw. From beneath one came a single gruff greeting, breaking the silence wrought by the gun that had emerged from the darkness.

One day from the depths of space had hurtled a brilliant streak of light above the jungle sky, a piece of cosmic debris born of another world that fell to the surface of the isolated planetoid with blinding flair. Impacting within the dense foliage of the planetoid’s vast cloud forests, the alien object emitted a thunderous sound unlike any that had ever been uttered there before. To this, the inhabitants of the forest responded with both awe and curiosity, and from the valleys below they set off on an expedition to discover the source of such sonorous power.

Upon reaching the lost artifact, the expedition marveled at its sheer size and construction - a gigantic metal enclosure that housed a conical form of an impossibly smooth material. Stranger still, the sky-fallen device would intermittently emit another sort of thunderous sound from within its core, shaking the bodies of all those who stood before it with what seemed to be an echo of its impact upon the planetoid’s surface. To the members of the expedition, such a cosmic source of sonic power could have been brought to them only by the divine provenance of their chief deity, the selfsame who brought rains and created similar booming sounds in the skies above their home. This finding redoubled in those gathered their faith in this great deity, and with resolve to haul this massive gift it had bestowed upon them back to their home valleys below, the worship of his BASS CULT had begun.

MNDSCP debuts the first single from his forthcoming album with BASS CULT as the EATBRAIN veteran calls the label’s horde to gather before his altar of auditory expertise, preparing them for the onslaught of low-end frequencies that is yet to come.
