Elevated far above the streets in one of the towering high-rise buildings that dominated the urban heart, the sound of the high-octane pursuit below barely penetrated the bleak musty cubical. Its cigarette-stained walls are etched with the marks he’d made to signify the passing of his life in this space. The ever-present hum of building’s servers that once he’d thought faintly pleasant, oppressively penetrated his eardrums - continually evolving… scraping the inside of his brain like sonic sandpaper. Flickering lights from the city’s exterior advertisements strobed across the dark sea of cubicles, the huddled occupants of each fixated on the faint glow of their viewscreens, their enslaved minds pouring over the flow of a sea of meaningless data. The lights hurt his eyes these days, each wave illuminating his dank space peaked his migraine – like shards of glass penetrating deep into the roots of his skull and twisting within his cortex on the way. He was at the edge, hovering on the very horizon of sanity itself… the boundary blurring – what was more insane – this existence? Or the one he desired – to tear himself free from the bonds of this reality… for his heart to burn with the light of a thousand stars as he steered his body towards the purity of presence outside of this slavery… to defy the great architect and stand proud just for a moment… Just as this thought manifested, he felt the tight grip upon his shoulder - briskly pulling him around to see the corrupt, fat, distorted face of the overseer sneering down through that twisted crevice of a mouth. Those chains broke – he felt his hand grasping the keyboard that he had been so long manacled to in his mind, moving with the rotation of the chair as he rose swiftly with the roar that escaped him so fluidly. The overseer’s shocked expression froze in time as the keyboard collided with his mouth – landing with such brutal force that the shockwave passed through his fat face. With that roar, he felt free… he had found himself.
 
SEGMENT & CONCEPT VISION follow up their incredible MAMMOTH EP with their 2nd impressive outing on neurofunk’s leading label, EATBRAIN. Proving once more the exceptional skill of their combined production with the 5 heavy-duty tracks of the ROAR EP (including free release with the vocal-led ‘EMPIRE’), the pair set the bar high through their powerful sound. Whether it’s the stuttering might of title track ROAR with its nightmare fueled arpeggios, or the dub-influenced sci-fi majesty of THIRST (featuring COD3X) - each track proves more relentless than the last. Here was something wrong with his latest creation. It sat very still, staring with tense eyes at him in silence as he leant over the altar of his work. His instruments glinted with the reflected gold of the candle flames that lit his space, the cradle of life where he replanted embers of consciousness in the infertile grounds of the dead. Up until now they had stirred into reality with the confused motion of limbs, eyes rolling and hands moving desperately along the cracks of the floor and the edges of the doorway, seeking fervently a way out. But this one was different – her eyes had snapped sharply open, she sat upright, and since that moment her stillness tainted the room with a quiet malice. Her eyes followed him as he moved, inspecting his work beyond an arm’s length. The black pits of her pupils like twin gravity wells, cold tendrils reaching out and compelling him closer as though death’s hand brushed the back of his neck and whispered timeless truths with a whisper into his ear. He drew back, looking down at the dark blood on his hands as her eyes flicked over them. Reaching behind him, he grasped his chair, sitting down slowly, his legs trembling slightly before buckling beneath his weight. The oppression of her stare bore down upon him. 

The relentless shuffle of MINDSCAPE's deadly REANIMATOR LP continues, as the ultimate power of Chapter II is unleashed on the EATBRAIN listener base. Bringing the next 4 tracks of what's turning out to be one of neurofunk's most solid albums, Mindscape's veteran experience shines through on each of the cuts, with his awareness of where the frontier of the genre lies sharpening the blades of his beautifully frenetic assault. The aim of the project was simple: the advancement of the human genome. The creation of a faster, stronger, more capable being from the raw source material of life, the encoding of a biological program more sophisticated than any other that had come before it, creator or lack thereof be damned. Set to work on the project were the organization’s top minds, experts in the fields of experimental medicine, biology, genomics and evolutionary theory. Working in secret under the benign neglect of the organizations public eye, their experiments pushed the very limits of the sciences they employed, as well as the morality that they all held quite fortunately in questionable regard.

From vats, replicators, test tubes, and centrifuges, these secretive experts bore forth forms of life never before seen, creating creatures both beautiful and terrifying, beings of undeniable superiority and of unimaginable horror born together as twins. Humanoids hybridized with multispecies genomes came forth in forms from fungal to animalistic, merged in unspeakable ways that stood in stark contrast to the hippocratic oath some present held upon the surface world. Down here in the depths of both earth and depravity, such concerns mattered not in the face of sheer technological and biological progress. Such was their task the VARIATION IN PRODUCTION of the multifaceted human genome.
