With the world re opening again, label boss, merchandise brand owner and DJ/producer Forbidden Society has made a welcome return to dancefloors. And after revealing an LP on his self-titled imprint last year, as well as following this with a host of releases including his debut on Vision Recordings in 2020, his tour schedule has been packed since fans flooded clubs over recent months. 

Despite the lack of drum & bass nights, Forbidden Societystill committed himself to studio time and after bringing his music to some of Europe’s most infamous clubs he returns to unleashing his digital music. This time he’s welcomed Agressor Bunx into the fray for a take on the classic sounds which Forbidden Society has built on over the past two years – and their forthcoming record ‘Steel City’ certainly does not disappoint. 

Duo Agressor Bunx have cultivated their fierce sound and talent on a host of labels, so excitement has picked up around their forthcoming release through Forbidden Society. The three selectors perfectly engineer a sound which is slick but also devastating, something which is injected into the heart of their single ‘Steel City’, with the Ukrainians delivering theirno holds-barred sound. With Forbidden Society’s brooding stamp, and Agressor Bunx delivering their deep, pounding bass sounds both acts go for the jugular. The track is intense, in a way that Forbidden Society has cultivated over the last two years to an expert level and it highlights the work the producer has put into his signature. Together, Forbidden Society and Agressor Bunx prove that their music is back with full force. And within the live music venues it belongs. ‘Steel City’ is a reminder of that fact.

It might have taken us ages to get the paperwork approved, but it will all have been worth it, because today is the day. Today we finally explore the inner workings of the infamous Pyramid Of The Red Moon. Every night for the last half year I have dreamt about what this masterpiece of ancient engineering might contain and today we'll find out. As we finally open the door into the labyrinth, a strong stench overwhelms us. On any other day we would find that odor repulsive, but today it is simply the scent of adventure! We venture deeper and deeper into the maze until we arrive at an enormous hall, with walls draped with beautiful and incredibly detailed tapestry. Otherwise it's mostly empty, except for a podium holding a large book in the centre of it all. We carefully open it up and try to decipher its content. It's seems to be a sort of LEXICON for a long-forgotten language, this could be our breakthrough! As we pick it up to take it with us to the lab, the ground beneath us begins to shift - we are standing on a huge trapdoor! Before we can even react, the floor opens up beneath us and we slide down a chute into the darkness.

After sliding for what feels like an eternity, we finally fall down onto solid ground. Perplexed, we look around us, as we hear the sound of a huge crowd cheering us on. We must be in some sort of... arena? Scorching lava rivers everywhere are not just blocking our exits, they're also so blindingly bright we can't even see the crowd through them. However, we can make out a humanoid figure a few meters away from us. Big red Mohawk, reminiscent of a Roman Empire general helmet, stylish purple jacket, and a flail, or MORGENSTERN as our German colleague would call it. Wait, it doesn't even seem to be human. It has a face that looks like that of a panther's, modified all over the place with various cybernetic enhancements. Is that the dominant species down here? Is this some sort of experiment? Uh-oh.
We don't have time to find answers to our questions, it has already noticed us. And it doesn't seem like it wants to play, it's out for blood. Those bright yellow eyes pierce through the darkness directly into our souls, and they're now rapidly getting closer. There's no sugar-coating this, we are screwed. Turns out there was a reason nobody ever dared to step foot into the pyramid.

From high above, fluctuations in the jetstream whipped the clouds into a frenzy, stretching, swirling, and blending them into a slate of blackest-grey from within which thunder and lightning began to add their voices to the ensuing cacophony. As the roar on the horizon grew, the very air itself seemed to slip and surge around the sonics that cut through it, churning it from stillness into a great gale that nipped with icy jaws at the flesh of any caught within its flow. Then, as though in a perfectly discordant concert with the air above, the ground itself began to shake, roiling in opposite motion as the second wheel of a planetary mill set to grind those upon the surface into dust. From within the fissures that scarred the Earth’s surface poured rivers of magma that made a cruel mockery of the world’s aqueous veins as they brought death to all with which they intersected and poisoned the air with toxic gasses long kept locked beneath the earth. Those who strove yet to live within this hellish world could not but hear a single voice in their minds, chiding them for forgetting what had always been known, dooming them to watch as the ENSUING CATACLYSM consumed the world that had once been their home.

AGRESSOR BUNX stand before the EATBRAIN horde as the heralds of the ENSUING CATACLYSM as they deliver their second full album to the waiting ears of the label’s faithful. As night fell upon the city, the oppressive slate grey clouds that had hovered above the skyline for days took on an echo of its luminosity, their undersides turning a distinctive pinkish color that illuminated the otherwise moonless night with an otherwordly glow. As the neon lights that guided the citizens who did business beneath the night shone on, high atop a fog-veiled corporate tower the final page of a pillaged tome turned in the hands of an avaricious businessman, who uttered the ancient words that lay upon the page even as it crumbled at his touch. “Kiramiji…Akasham… Anayantu…” he muttered, entranced as his final words slipped from his mouth as the book’s ancient prophecy became as foretold. Instantly exsanguinated, his oxidized blood rushed through the tower’s crowning skylights in a torrent and upwards into the sky as their vital energies set the winds of a divine storm in motion.

Emerging then from the swirling vortex of crimson-tinged cumulonimbus clouds came a guttural and otherworldly utterance that struck like a sledgehammer against the glass panes of the city’s construction before being followed by the scarlet tentacles of a forgotten horror long since sealed. Though gargantuan in size, their suction-cupped tendrils seemed almost sensitive to the minute movements of the humans that struggled within their grasp, almost playful as the thousand teeth of each cupped limb sucked the blood from their bodies and discarded their desiccated corpses upon the streets below. Such an ancient evil was this that it exuded a malign and rapacious consciousness in its unending hunger, as for aeons none had seen such horrors as the RED SKY unleashed.

Emitted from the deepest reaches of the universe is a tapestry of interwoven electromagnetic spectra for those with the eyes to see it, a collection of purples, reds, blues, and other hues each painted onto the telescopic canvas by the distances that intercede their transmission and reception. Chief amongst these stellar artists are nebulae, swirling gaseous masses from whence are birthed new stars and eventually the planets that shall orbit them, oft referred to as the “stellar nursery” and seen by some as the primeval crucible of all life.

Indeed, these resplendently colorful and churning seas of the universe’s elemental energies bear the responsibility for all life - that which is known and that which lurks unseen alike. Within their depths are born creatures unimaginable, formed beyond any terrestrial realm and independent of the laws that govern the ways of life upon them. Their hulking bodies are rendered on a cosmic scale, growing to gargantuan size amidst the stellar mists in which they find their homes. There they lie in wait for one who may gaze for long enough at such places to unknowingly summon their presence, a feat granting them passage to the plane material and madness upon their woe-begotten observer. Thus has been the fate of many an overaccomplished astrologer who fails to beware the COLOURS OF SPACE and continues on in ignorance of the horrors that lie within.

TASK HORIZON return to EATBRAIN with COLOURS OF SPACE, an EP in which the trio summons forth cosmic soundscapes guaranteed to have a maddening effect on the ears of the EATBRAIN horde.
