I knew I had discovered something special between mid 1989 & early 1991 when I became aware of this new raw music. For me 1990 is where the fusion in the production became interesting. Hardcore rave had arrived and it was unlike anything I had ever heard. Laced with bleeps, bass, break beats, stomping techno and acid it would pave the way for generations of genres to come. This was my musical epiphany. This was my sound. This was my era!

Amnesia House est 1988 , in the illegal warehouse dayz .. As they forged a path , And set the template for others to follow..

I Remember looking up at the decks hoping to get a slot, wishing I was behind those decks 🎧🙏🏽 ..
 Yes it was a dream ..that became a reality..💙
With hard work,desire,determination,passion, dedication, you can make things happen , In any field you wish to choose,  if your willing to put in the graft and make sacrifices , side step distractions , And stay focused.. Don't expect things to be handed to you on a plate ..

I was determined to work hard, learn my craft , and earn my respect,You gotta earn your stripes in this game! ....Proud and blessed to still be here , doing my thing , and contributing in a positive way to our special scene.

'91 - '92 Rave Classics - Mixed by Tony Damage

Here's a mix I did back in 1991 around the time we were doing small events at the Raindance Clubhouse in Jenkins Lane, the recording is OK, not the best as it's from cassette but I've managed to brighten it up a bit. In October 1990 Coventry made dance music history...

That first Saturday night/Sunday morning experience was put on at the former Granada Bingo Hall in Lower Ford Street,Coventry,England.

The bingo hall had now been transformed into a 4 floored nightclub, and was also voted the best nightclub in the country in 1991 by fellow ravers through DJ Magazine. With a chill out space including a cinema on the ground floor, a second floor room enough to hold 500 people, and the main room on the top floor holding over a 1000 people including the balcony.

Every Friday and Saturday night would be filled by clubber's and raver's from all over Britain..

Act's such as :The Prodigy, K Klass, SL2, Altern 8, Moby, Shades of Rhythm and LFO all passed through it's door's with live p.a. set's.

Top dj's such as, The great grooverider,carl cox,sasha,frankie bones,Micky finn,top buzz etc,all graced the decks on a reguar basis,and two hour set's were the norm.

February 94,the club was closed.

At the time of closing more than one million people had passed through its doors and it had a standing membership of 74,000. .

The idea behind my page is to log and showcase the music that has influenced me over the years so that my daughter, Ebony, can listen to ‘olden day’ music and hopefully appreciate how good we had it. 

Having learnt my craft in the late 80’s at the age of 12 and teaching myself how to beat match on 1200’s within a week, I felt I had a knack for this DJ’ing thing way before it became fashionable. I would class myself as quite a versatile DJ able to lend my hand to most genres. Hopefully all those years of bedroom mixing and house parties have paid off…but that’s up to you to decide. 

I attempt to capture a constant energy in my mixes regardless of genre and am always a firm believer that the mix is as important as the track itself. I endeavour to create seamless transitions whilst maintaining the energy. During longer mixes a welcome switch in style is sometimes required. In fact different genres warrant different styles of mixing, in my opinion. And monotonous sets do nothing for me. Up and down, peaks and troughs, it’s all about building the listener up and letting them down gently.

Never one to choose tracks based on their popularity or current chart position, I hand pick the tunes I mix because I think they’ll stand the test of time. The idea being that during any of my sets I can pick a point and know I’ll dig that track or mix. Although digitally digging isn’t as rewarding as finding physical vinyl records for me, it is a whole lot easier. That said there are a lot of below par tunes out there to sift through before finding worthy tracks. Then the set process begins…I just approach it as a musical jigsaw.

Anyway, enough about me. Whether you’re getting ready to go out for the night, cleaning the kitchen or in the car, turn it up, get in the groove and I hope you enjoy the vibes  😎
