@cotto_music's back with a two-track heater for the heads craving that classic hard house energy. "Bring Tha Hard House Back" lives up to its name with a jacking swing that fits in a chunky, disco-infused bassline. A squelchy Korg cuts through the mix, while orchestral stabs and vinyl scratches on the breakdown evoke a legit 90s street brawler video game vibe. On the flip, "Roll On" takes a darker turn, a brooding speed garage number perfect for late-night sets. Follow the driving techno kick to a drop where a manky bassline pulsates beneath flickering electronics. Prepare to get lost in this one.

[DOS-EC2A-01] - COTTO

Nottingham’s very own n4tee brings speedy g and hard house warfare on this double-tracker. First up, “88kru” gives no time to settle, instead packing in enough blasting sound FX to fill up a lazer quest arena. Then, n4tee takes you up to the big boss: a behemoth breakdown with a doom-stricken bassline that knocks the dust off the drums. “Riddim Runnaz” hands over to a thrusting house groove that spools and unspools like a turbine. When you think you’ve got it pegged, the track digs deeper to find a grizzly second drop spawned from the depths of the Earth. A stretched voice in “88kru” declares “you can’t bring me down”, and with this addition to the Digital Only Series, you’ll be on board.

N4TEE - Riddim Runnaz/88kru

French producer and Rinse France resident Hyas debuts on ec2a with a two-tracker that pioneers EUKG - velvety European garage featuring verses from a duo of MCs from across the channel. “Mit Rauch” taps up Germany’s Vitus04 for some freestyle energy. Whipping percussion and drips of organ lay the foundation for the rapper to launch into breathless flows in the verses, vaulting over each bar like a true lyrical olympian.

French producer and Rinse France resident Hyas debuts on ec2a with a two-tracker that pioneers EUKG - velvety European garage featuring verses from a duo of MCs from across the channel.  “Modigliani” has the power to bring you back to earth after a barbaric night out, with smooth Tropicana chords and the cool-headed flows of French rapper Kaba. He’s as lowkey as they come, rapping almost under his breath which makes his shotgun blasts in the chorus even more surprising.

Over a bristling frenzy of speedy G hi-hats, Sheffield’s Silva Bumpa comes through with a snotty, disco-flavoured bassline burner on “Automatic.” The drop tumbles down the bar stairs, dusts itself off and does it all over again over a rock-solid swing. Bumpa throws flashes of a disco ball in the mix, as well as a swaggering vocal sample which slows down just enough to make the whole track feel even more nimble. Glamorous and gritty, it’s classic Silva Bumpa tekkers.

You can often find Aussie bass renegade Club Angel raving at the crossroads of trance and garage, and “Lost My Trust” is as biting and buoyant as he’s ever been. Riding a quick, bucking beat, glimmers of trance peek through before Club Angel crunches into reverse gear and J-turns into an onslaught of sludgy bass knocks. Queue it up and watch the screwface reactions - this one will turn the dance on its head.

Club Angel - Lost My Trust

With a stacked lineup of trusted names and fresh firepower, All Hands on Deck is a genre-splicing comp that commands everybody on the floor. These 10 tracks rip through styles like a NOS-fueled tour of UK clubs. One minute you’re locked into a jungle breakbeat, the next you’re blindsided by shimmering Eskibeat, or a tense grime fiddle can jump out of the way of a strutting organ lead. Expect the signature ec2a sounds - gusty speedy g and drooping dubstep wubs - but there are nuggets of newness amongst the fray, like Robustt’s sickly acid synthscape, or TEXT’s bittersweet UK bass yearning. It’s a lock-in at the dingiest, smokiest, bassiest club in the world - high metal fences guarding the DJ booth while the dancefloor turns feral.

Swiss-born, Barcelona-based Thelma’s weighty techno unrolls into high-torque burnouts made for ec2a. “Greenhouse” is divided into four drops, but you’ll never hear the same one twice. It grabs the ears with an all-encompassing, somersaulting vocal and is then swapped out for a suave organ lead, then tension-drenched chord stabs, before finally joining forces. Broken up by jubilant low-pass filter rises, she keeps the dancefloor moving as one with every new sound. The flip side “This World” shows that she speaks fluent speed garage too, enough to accent it with a cryptic dream pop vocal and spring-loaded tech-house percs inside.

THELMA - The Higher Land EP

Sydney producer Mincy lands on ec2a with a couplet of quick, sharp-edged techno that scribbles all over the genre map, cut together with snappy hooks and cheeky sound design. Climb on the scaffolding of “Fall Down Go Boom”, and it will wobble you with revs of low-end pressure in the drop and quick Baltimore club intermissions. “Silly Roller” moves slower but lairy, as Mincy chucks in Eskibeat bongs, a portion of a UFO takeoff and tinny keys that spell doom, only for a deep, lairy “Yeah!” to stamp its approval before the whole thing goes off again. Precision club business with a mischievous streak.

For ec2a’s Digital Only Series, Benwal delivers dirty Dutch speed garage that bares its teeth while nursing bruised emotions underneath. “U Need” cuts deep with a vocal that is rife with confusion and heartache, its bassline ripping through and tearing up the floor like it’s trying to make sense of it all. “Back To The Old School” brings conga-lined speedy G that rolls like a vintage Bush Records tune. The bass is molten and malicious, but Benwal pulls an unexpected turn when he welcomes a transfixing church organ in the midsection. Just as you lock into a trance, house horns dish out a Sweet Chin Music to snap you back into the drop.

Sydney sound warrior Cotto returns to the Digital-Only Series wielding two heaters akimbo, Jason Bourne-style. “Been A Long Time” has a blistering 0-60 time, dropping straight into a thunderstorm of a bassline angled for peak time with anguished diva shouts and impassioned calls to the DJ. The agile organ-laced speedy g of “Wasted (30,000ft Mix)” puts your head above the clouds, before switching the vibe with stabbed organ crushes, synth squelches and sly house keys.
