Pink Dolphins of the Amazon

Lena: Because I knew from the start that the encounter with Scarlet Briar was going to be long, epic, and multi-phase, I wanted to write something that would not only change over time, but cover all the aspects of Scarlet’s quickly-diminishing sanity. 

For the Prime Hologram phase, this meant starting off strong, with a string ostinato and heavy percussion carrying the sustained choir. 

For the second phase, the Hologram literally splits apart into its Red, Blue and Green counterparts, and I wanted to focus on that shattering by breaking out the choir and taiko, accompanying them with organ and piano. 

And finally, when the holos all merge back together into the powerful Ultraviolet Hologram, I brought back Scarlet’s theme with full orchestral bombast to carry the fight through its climactic phase.
