An attempt at a pop tune, but can crossover to other genres. The songwriter in me had this love ballad tucked away, and seemed time to finish the tune. I've got some lyrics too. Kind of sappy but that's okay.

The main guitar carries the melody. Slow, simple, and gentle.

Dedicated to whom I've given my deepest love. And to those who need some extra love to counter hate or fear they might face.

The feeling I had when I was writing the music was what I get from a King's "You've Got a Friend" and Richie's "Endless Love" (I wish the song could compare!). 

Guitar synth, keyboard, and harp set to shakers with a heartbeat kick for a relaxed 58 bpm.

We’ve all been there at times… losing faith in life, questioning who to turn to for solace and meaning – and this time it’s lead singer and guitarist Dave Lightfoot of South London garage rockers The Fades. Having heard a rumour that Keanu Reeves was filming around the corner from their rehearsal studios just after experiencing a midlife breakup, Dave’s imagination was set alight thinking: imagine bumping into Keanu on the street, hanging out and going back to the studio with him for a jam together – then an amazing lifelong relationship can begin, but before that there’s a song to write and here it is…

Looking for Keanu is a 90’s inspired slice of slacker indie rock that features The Fades at their most reflective and self-effacing.

The naked honesty in the verse lyric is plain to see but even in the darkest moments there’s always hope to guide us through to better times and then comes the chorus: it’s powerful, catchy and you can’t help but be lifted up by its energy. There’s the video too, jam packed with ‘Easter eggs’ from Keanu’s various films, all shot around the area where Keanu was filming in South London when Dave came up with the song.

With DJs like Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy & Marc Riley supporting various releases & glowing write ups in Louder Than War, Fresh on The Net & alike throughout their career, The Fades are a band who’ve consistently turned adversity to their advantage, finding the best in life while not taking themselves too seriously.

Recorded by Billy Foster at Snap Studios and mastered by James Trevascus at Bakewell Audio, the song fuses intimate verses with big anthemic choruses, charting an internal monologue of the author battling with himself and ultimately choosing life over self-destructive behaviour:

To celebrate their releases, The Lunar Keys often put their little money where their big mouths are - in support of good causes. For example, ‘Silent Ricochet’ aided the arrival of 900 trees (and counting), whilst ‘Stop This’, ‘Oxygen Type’, ‘Once’ and ‘Maniac’ raised money for the charities Nordoff Robbins, Oxygen, TheTrussellTrust and the nurses at The Royal Surrey Hospital respectively. 

The release of BLEED will continue this Lunar tradition: Inspired by recent events and, well, the song’s title, the band pledges to donate £1 for each of the first 250 airplays or reviews that BLEED receives to the Haemophilia Society. The Lunar Keys are 4 anxious types from Guildford (UK) with too many tunes and nervous energy trapped in their psyches not to be in this band. The band perfected its line up in February 2020 and have had a blast ever since, honing their craft and building a dedicated following.
