'A Single Hope' is taken from 'Centres’ - the stunning new album from Vancouver-based vocalist / composer Ian William Craig, and his first release for FatCat’s pioneering 130701 imprint (Max Richter, Hauschka, Dustin O’Halloran, Jóhann Jóhannsson, etc). 

The signing of Craig marks something of a departure for 130701, as the label looks to adventurously expand its repertoire beyond the established post-classical palette of piano / strings / brass. Whilst elements recall the visceral, home-baked immersion of fellow Canadian outfit Set Fire To Flames (who kick-started the imprint 15 years ago), the hands-on customisation of Hauschka’s prepared piano or the tape-grain bleed of Max Richter, this is the first album we have ever released to substantially feature the voice and the song at its centre.

Ian William Craig is a trained operatic vocalist who combines his voice with analogue synthesizers, reel-to-reel machines, and faulty tape decks to create sublime cascades of unpredictable decay and beauty. His music engages with the operatic and orchestral, submerging them under a shifting palette of vocal improvisations, analogue tape hiss and billowing clouds of erasure. 

A stunning album that stands with a similarly unique sense of vision and integrity as the likes of William Basinski or Colin Stetson, ‘Centres’ will be available on CD, digital and in a deluxe gatefold double vinyl edition.

Ian William Craig will be embarking on his first ever UK / European tour in August.

When Tresor founder Dimitri Hegemann stumbled into a former bank vault in East Berlin on March 13th 1991, he had little idea that the
space he had unlocked would fast become one of Berlin's most influential and enduring techno clubs. "We didn't know what would
happen 10 months later," he says. "We signed a lease for a year. Which eventually got renewed for another three months, and another
three months…”

As Tresor celebrates its 25th anniversary with this work of artists from the US, Germany, China, France, Austria, Italy and the UK, it is
worth dwelling on how the cultural conditions that birthed Detroit techno – economic neglect and broken industry – were mirrored by
the disused bunkers and impromptu parties of post-unification East Berlin, where techno found new, vigorous expression.

Today, though the boom and bust of globalised capitalism has filled the void that followed the Berlin Wall, and techno has become a
worldwide industry, we face a new political chapter, one defined by populism, nationalism and mistrust. Contemporary creatives should
take inspiration from Tresor's story, an extraordinary experiment born from improvisation, resourcefulness and social neglect that
uplifted the spirits of inner city communities for a quarter-century.

This record marks the spirit of those 25 years of creativity, a paean to the psychedelic music of Dimitri’s youth. From the signature
magnetic soundscapes of Vainqueur to the dark textures of upcoming Being producer Shao; from Jon Hassell’s slow epicurean volutes,
to the ritual auras of Marcelus and Claudia Anderson’s contributions; from the dub-infused pioneering programming of Juan Atkins and
Moritz von Oswald, to Mønic’s enthralling cadences, it represents some of the old and new names that continually epitomise Tresor's
perennial spirit of ingenuity. “We were space pioneers," says Dimitri.

The East Berlin of 1991 may have disappeared to gentrification, with Tresor's lonely vanguard joined by an army of venues catering to an
international array of clubbers benefiting from low cost travel, many of whom settle in the city for good. Berlin is Europe's economic
engine, headquarters to global industry and sole traders alike, where Polish, Kurdish and English are as likely to be spoken as German.
That range of influences is felt in all areas of life, not least in the city's music.

"Without Tresor, Berlin would not be what it is today," concludes Dimitri. "Even though it sounds a bit pretentious, it is true. Tresor was
the prototype for an extraordinary club. It was only possible as a combination of the right time, the right place, the right content and
determined people."

Berlin based cellist and composer Anne Müller, announces the release of her long awaited debut solo album 'Heliopause'. 

Heliopause follows several Erased Tapes releases featuring Anne, including her celebrated collaboration with Nils Frahm titled 7fingers, appearances on Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm’s Collaborative Works, Nils Frahm’s All Melody and his acclaimed soundtrack for the film Victoria, Lubomyr Melnyk’s Fallen Trees, as well as the two bespoke solo pieces Walzer für Robert and Bel Tono for the label’s 5th and 10th anniversary box sets. In fact, a glance at  Müller’s Discogs boasts credits on over 60 releases since she began recording in 2007.

Classically trained at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts under the renowned cellist and conductor Michael Sanderling, Anne Müller performed as a cellist in many of Berlin’s symphonies for some time before choosing a different path with her music and focussing on novel approaches to classical instrumentation. A profound believer in the power of artistic collaboration, Anne’s skilled cello playing and instinctive composition became extremely sought after.

Following her work with Nils Frahm, an enduring partnership with singer-songwriter-composer Agnes Obel ensued, touring for five years together and featuring on two albums (Philharmonics and Aventine) and most recently, working with multi-instrumentalist Markus Sieber (aka Aukai) on his 2019 album Reminiscence. In between all this, Müller also co-founded the progressive live project Solo Collective along with violinist/singer Alex Stolze and pianist/conceptual artist Sebastian Reynolds, releasing Solo Collective Part One in 2017.

A solo record in every sense of the word, Müller wrote, recorded, arranged and produced Heliopause. The album is named after the boundary where the sun’s wind ceases to have influence. It is ultimately, the border of our solar system. The name struck a chord with Müller since the two voyagers sent on an exploratory mission 42 years ago, recently crossed the Heliopause, entering into interstellar space and losing power from our own sun. Müller recognised herself in this moment, not only approaching the same age, but also breaking new ground; having relied on collaborating with so many other stars and now venturing into the unknown with her first solo statement; “Heliopause marks the end of a long journey but also the start of voyages to explore strange new worlds”

Both as the closing title track and album as a whole, Heliopause crosses these physical and invisible borders throughout, sending the cello as a typically classical instrument to exciting new and uncharted territory.

Liebe Musik Gemeinschaft!
Dieses so vieles veränderndes Jahr neigt sich seinem Ende zu….. und ein neues steht vor der Türe.
Dies mit dem Vorteil, dass wir uns auf einiges neues Einstellen können und offen dafür sind, dass nichts mehr so sein wird, wie es war. 
Das ist es sowieso, jedes Jahr, jede Stunde, jeder Moment…….
Die Musik wird uns auch in den kommenden Monaten weiter erfüllen, verbinden, erfreuen uns in magische Welten führen, uns durch was immer auch kommt, begleiten.

So’ham  hat uns einen Ausklang und gleichzeitig Einklang dieses Übergangs kreiert. 
Mit ‘A Lucid Guide For The Waking Dreamer’ nimmt er uns an die Hand, auf eine sensible Reise. Er gibt uns Zeit und Abstand zur Geschichte die gerade abläuft, schenkt uns eine musikalische Anleitung, den Raum zwischen Traum und Erwachen zu beleuchten.

Wir fühlen uns geehrt mit So’ham dieses Jahr beschliessen zu dürfen. Als eines der drei Herzen von Urban Cosmonat Radio, einem der innovativsten Kollektive für feine Musik, als  Produzent mit Talent und ‘Weltweitsicht’, einem Magier an den Decks und tiefsinnigem Gespür musikalische Geschichten erzählen zukönnen.

Dear music community!
This so much changing year is drawing to a close ... .. and a new one is just around the corner.
This has the advantage that we can adjust to some new things and are open to the fact that nothing will be the same as it was before.
That's it anyway, every year, every hour, every moment …….
Music will continue to fill us, connect us, delight us, lead us into magical worlds, accompany us through whatever comes.

So’ham has created a conclusion and at the same time harmony of this transition.
With ‘A Lucid Guide For The Waking Dreamer’ he takes us by the hand on a sensitive journey. It gives us time and distance to the story that is currently going on, gives us musical instructions to illuminate the space between dream and awakening.

We feel honored to be able to end this year with So’ham. To be able to tell musical stories as one of the three hearts of Urban Cosmonat Radio, one of the most innovative collectives for fine music, as a producer with talent and ‘worldwide view’, a magician on the decks and a profound sense.
