At IGNI, a New Earth tribe gathered to connect, dance and ignite the rain. Guided by electronic frequencies with tribal rhythms, we connected with our tribal essence and embarked on a journey back to our most primal connection with Mother Earth.

This musical journey - is an immersion and passage through the stages of Bardo (the intermediate states in Tibetan Buddhism). It is the journey of the soul through this entire multidimensional and transcendental process—Bardo of life, Bardo of dying, Bardo of Dharmadhatu, and Bardo of becoming. We would be delighted if this musical session accompanies you during your tea ceremonies. 

In this session, we drank a fermented white tea called “Yunnanese Beauty”. It is the product of an exchange of experience between a Taiwanese and a Chinese master. Master Wang Zhi Hong processed the raw material from Ailao using the techniques applied in the famous “Oriental Beauty” tea production. This resulted in a very rich and distinctive tea with floral, spicy and honey like aroma and mild, sweet, mineral taste.

This mix was mid-wifed in Virgo Season 2024, during the invitation to play a stunning private Urban Medicine Temple Celebration—Funky Funghata—celebrating the marvelous life and path of my beloved sister & inter-galactic healing-artist Revati (from @slowing):  this ceremonial gathering was both a magnificent celebration of life and relationships woven over years & years, and also an anchoring in of cosmic frequencies, so deeply needed in the middle of such potent urban landscapes. 

Bowing to all of the spirits that helped to mid-wife this Temple, gratitude that the sacred is infused EVERYWHERE, when we shift our perspective to feel and receive it's mirroring...May the frequencies of the music and prayers ripple outwards, into this world-in-transition:  We are the medicine 💎

A few months ago we were contacted by the head of Vice China who had discovered Shika Shika and our artists and loved the music. After much back and forth they today premiered an exclusive mixtape alongside an interview with us (you can see it here, in Mandarin: http://noisey.vice.cn/read/new-voice-of-electronic-and-world-music-from-shika-shika)

This has been surprising and amazing -  testament to the globality and interconnectedness of today's music scene. Through this we are in touch with some Chinese producers and are exploring the possibility of touring in China.

Vice China Mixtape (Mixed by El Búho)

There are places on this beautiful planet where immensity is the only dimension, places where the clouds come so close that they seem accompanying your wandering. Places so infinitely empty that fulfil the spirit. The African plains and deserts are undoubtedly among those, and today we undertake an adventurous journey across their rhythms and flavours. These were the inspiring forces guiding Pedro Canale in the selection of the sounds for this beautiful mix. Pedro is the self-defined ‘joyful monkey’ which in 2005 started the music project Chancha Via Circuito(https://soundcloud.com/chanchaviacircuito). Back in the day in Buenos Aires, he was one of the pioneers who started combining the folk Latin-American rhythms of cumbia with electronic sounds. As his horizons expanded, different sonorities entered his sound palette and led him to become the ecletic musician and producer which we have the pleasure to listen to today. 
Besides featuring instruments and motives of the African continent, the mix he preapared for UCR captures the spirit of that land. Sparkling and vibrant sounds conceal dark tones, as lights and shadows on the dunes move together in a sinuous dance. Talking about the set Pedro said: `There was nothing for miles around; it was a wilderness`, and in that desert we roam. May its infinite emptyness fulfil our spirits.
