About this Journey: 
Arrispigghiativi (wake up in Sicilian language) is taken from the title of the opening track of the mixtape that is a wake up call coming from Lampedusa, a small Italian island between Sicily and the African continent that has become known since mid/late 90’s for the immigrants (mainly Africans or from Middle East) crisis that is still ongoing even today with most, if not all, EU politicians treating the issue with hypocrisy and bigotry while people are dying (about 20.000, the ones we are aware of, only in last 8 years) during the journey to their dream of a better life.
Back to “Arrispigghiativi”, the track, is a cry of despair distressing about the environmental problem we are living today. Taking inspiration by it, Al-Jive Mestizo prepared this moody, sometimes dramatic and intense mixtape where the wake up call is “virtually” echoed around the Mediterranean Sea touching all sides of it and beyond, in the hope that people will wake up and get together with the same motive: the shared love for mother Earth that has, or should have, no flags.
Alberto (Al-Jive Mestizo), Sicilian himself, has always been passionate in the history, multicultural relationships, arts and music coming from the Mediterranean area where he grew up and lived until mid 2000’s. It was a normal step for him to bring this influence into his music selections, selections that cannot be labeled in a defined genre, but are, today, definitely embracing the whole planet and its multi-culture, mixing ancient and modern; in his own words “a mestizada”.

Lola Villa is a Bogotá born, a Buenos Aires bred and a Berlin grown – now being of musical menace to the Dutch capital. Her travels have brought her closer to both her Latin American roots and a borderless exploration of global sounds. When playing, Lola invokes landscapes, animals & rituals of her homeland Colombia – a country rich in Amazonian, Andean, Afro and Arab musical legacies. Her electronic sound is for that exact same reason a profound journey of melodies, a playground of rhythms breaking genres and boundaries.

Expect musical connections between past and present, east and west, tropical and deep. An ongoing voyage with carefully crafted folkloric moves.
