This journey was created for Ecstatic Dance Toronto (EDT) by one of our in house DJ’s Patient ZeroBeat on April 20, 2022. The theme of this journey was inspired by a quote by 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire which is “Dancing can reveal all the mystery that music conceals.” It’s certainly well understood that dancing without music can be difficult, awkward and/or uninspiring. But the flip side can also be true. There’s a lot of music I play which can perhaps be described as “requires dancing”. So the synergy between music and dancing can work in both directions; it’s only when I experience the dance (especially with a lot of other people) does the music reveal more of its mysteries, more of its reason for existing.
