Not Waving - Redacted

With the necessary vinyl reissue of Not Waving’s sophomore solo LP Redacted (2013), Alessio Natalizia reminds us of his nascent psychedelic side in light of his lucid, skizzo deviations on the Animals album for Diagonal. While there’s a mutual sense of technoid momentum to both albums, Redacted is a far gauzier, freeform and sensual beast; one richly steeped in proto/post-club atmospheres and allowing his imagination to run away with itself.

Conceptually, Redacted pursues the “classified” themes of his Remote Viewing-inspired Umwelt (2013) LP into even murkier departments, drawing subtly ‘marish parallels between the cold war atmospheres that birthed original post punk, industrial and proto-techno, and the current pallor of socio-political unrest that pervades our present situation.

Omitting the original tape’s expansive closer for the sake of a single LP cut, this vinyl version plays out like an alternative soundtrack to scenes in the overgrown, radioactive zones of Tarkovsky’s Stalker, using an anachronistic palette of analogue machinery to emphasise a sense of fluid, shimmering motion and out-of-place-and-timelessness that genuinely goes straight to the head with trippy effect. 

Swampy slow techno horror themes vacillate with decayed pastoral panoramas and windows of synthetic optimism, both lush and disquietingly needling, using dissonance and sweeps of hazy noise to ultimately spell out a foreboding but dreamlike sort of electronic subterfuge and suspense that resonates with the nostalgic Stranger Things score as much as Leyland Kirby’s Intrigue & Stuff series.

The metallic shell of the building had been a home to misery and pain for far too long. Soon it would burst with glorious colour and radiant light as the fireworks blasted with a glistening bang. The fuse was lit and the countdown to infinity was well and truly on. Prepare to boom!

Pye Corner Audio is set to release a new four track EP on Lapsus Records on the 15th of December. The enigmatic producer delivers gliding arpeggios and electronic wizardry on the label in what makes up the "Where Things Are Hollow" EP.

Wonder Stories is the Colorado based label from Aman Ellis, better known as Aimes. recent releases include  Concret, Jac the Disco, Motessuri, Curses and many more. 
Mexican based Macaulay, co-founder of Exxxtra Picante, has been brought in to create an EP choc full of acid: Mcoolaid, Fuego and Techmoreno with the wonderful Alejandro Paz making a reappearence. Today at 44100hz we premiereing Techmoreno. Weirdy disjointed vocals, toms and weird percussion sounds along with an unexpected non breackdown at around 3.50.  Exactly the type of sound that belongs one the 44100Hz. Definitely something the water in Mexico!

This record sits at the heavier end of our musical spectrum and is brimming with hard-hitting electro swagger that conjures up a dystopian video-game underworld, the best bits of Alien Sex Fiend and comes atop a whole bunch of wobbly baselines. Not for the faint of heart this record is a total dance-floor destroyer.

Luca Venezia, AKA Curses has spent the past year moonlighting as a DJ, Producer and a label owner for Ombra International, an imprint which focuses on left of centre analogue techno with a live edge specializing in Cold Wave with a slight hint of Goth. 
The latest offering is an EP from the Postmodernism Forms, an act based between Bogota Columbia and Berlin, Germany.
A track which channels the Cure as much as it does electronic music. The second track on the B side, 'Never Forget that You're Alive' boasts a live bass, distant sounding spoken word vocals which hypnotizes as well as creates the urge to dance. (difficult not to when closing in on 135 bpm) Dark and distant but always close enough for you to remember that you are alive.
