Mixed this mostly on headphones, and now, listening back to a month later with different headphones, imagine my suprise! Shock and horror! And then on proper speakers... So I had to remix it, a little tweaking here and there,  and it sounds a lot better to me. Lesson learned, never mixing on headphones for the levels ect!

This was originally just a track I worked on to experiment with sounds, ebows ect, it was also an effort to find back the sound I had for drums and stuff after changing a harddrive (I lost some presets earlier).. then the Soundcloud algorithms figured to promote this more than any of the tracks that I've been more serious about!  At least its improved now.

This instrumental is based on the sound of Synths, multiple tracks of Strats and electric bass. I used a lot of effects on guitars, like flanger, chorus delay in a way that was very common in the eighties.

Jussi and Natasha arrived at the studio first and were just setting up when Jussi started playing the intro to "Lipstick and Ash " and Natasha began to fill out the strings.

By the time the rest of the band arrived the idea was pretty well formed and the song, cinematic post rock, is unusual as the drums and bass only feature for 8 bars, the rest being strings and guitar.

Amplify Me is the artist name of producer and guitar player Wim van Winsum. He lives in Groningen, the Netherlands.  All music of Amplify Me is produced on the Ableton Live DAW. All instruments are played by him. He loves to make electric guitar music.  His greatest inspirations have come from great guitar players such as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton but also from players such as Mark Knopfler and Steve Vai. The most important thing about a good piece of guitar work is that it reaches you emotions and when the player experiences a direct line from the soul to the fingers while playing it. Some of his songs are guitar instrumentals, and some are recorded with Rick Winsome, one of his sons who is a great singer, especially rock, country rock or R&B. He does not focus on one particular style but all songs are recognizable as having a typical 'Amplify Me' style.
