LIVE FROM CLAP: PART TWO

With an instinctive feeling for the right vibe, Daniel Mielowski is a DJ having successfully performed at one of the biggest club venues and events on the European scene.

His journey began with a move to London in 2008, where he immediately immersed himself in the city’s deep musical culture. Debuting on the global stage at Ministry of Sound has led him to a long list of appearances for The Gallery, such as Sudbeat Showcase with Hernan Cattaneo, Full on Fluoro with Paul Oakenfold, and his first regular residency for a fashion brand - Armani Exchange.

As well as playing at other super-clubs like Pacha and Egg LDN, he developed the unique style he has today. Daniel so far had the privilege of gracing the decks with some of the most revered names in the industry, including Paul van Dyk, Guy Mantzur, Derrick Carter, Stefano Noferini, Cid Inc, and Cosmic Gate. He opened up for legendary Dave Seaman & King Unique at one of the hottest line-ups of 2015 and headlined gigs in Malta and Slovenia.

His latest residency at Qomo Bar & Lounge in Düsseldorf brought him a chance to embrace different styles of music. From a modern dose of jazzy and soulful grooves to deeper shades of house soundtracking sunsets 172 meters up on the iconic Rhein Tower.

Escapism is a theme that runs through the very heart of music. We listen to be transported, removing ourselves from our immediate surroundings as our senses relax and the sonic experience washes through us. Through times of hardship music gifts us a way out from our daily challenges, allowing us to choose how we feel in response to sounds we hear and the vibrations we feel.

Techno House DJ with a trancey edge. Utilizing melancholic melodies with driving baselines, Deegan forges a chic and uplifting sound which is trademark during his residency at the DECKSAVERS club night. 


Ed Deegan had a thirst for all things musical from a very early age growing up in a house of musicians and music lovers.  He picked up the guitar at 8 years old learning classical music and starting to write his own songs.  This developed into a grunge fascination in the early 90’s and Ed began to emulate his heroes like Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan and Page Hamilton from Helmet, on stage with his own bands Beeswax and The Triads, playing venues around his home county of Warwickshire.  Through the role of songwriter for the band he began to introduce the synthesizer element to his songs post a life changing influence from listening to Jean Michel Jarre’s Chronology Album.

As the electronic element grew Ed began visiting trance Meccas Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, and Cream in Liverpool where a legendary Courtyard set from the Paul Oakenfold converted his vision to being on the other side of the decks.  Ed moved to London in 1999 when the trance stage was at its peak, becoming a member of Peach at the Camden Palace where he would be hypnotized by resident Graham Gold’s sets week in and week out.  From euphoric Camden Palace moments to dirtier techno moments at the Fridge, Ed was learning and developing his own style of melodic, uplifting, progressive, underground beats to offer to the masses during his own club night ‘Frontside’ hosted in The Telegraph, Brixton.

After a successful run with Frontside - including putting the night on at Bureau, Birmingham owned by Godskitchen founder Neil Moffat - Ed decided to have a break and travelled the world, returning to host a trance radio show in Bournemouth on BIRST FM.  Here he worked with some of his inspirations including Mark Vedo resident of Slinky and the aforementioned Graham Gold of KISS FM.  Yet through a need to be back ‘in the thick of it’ in London, he came back to find that the trance scene had moved on in a different direction to the melancholic driven sounds he had fallen in love with, and the scene had almost burnt out in the Capital.  Ed needed a fresh take on things and he found this in the shape of a 7am Diego cK set at the Factory in Vauxhall in 2006.  Trance style heartbreaking melodies over dark dirty bass lines, but much slower, sexier and methodical than the music he had been listening to and playing for so many years.  This was it.  Ed had evolved.

Probing into the minimal tech house scene was a pleasure for Ed as he was discovering something fresh.  Yet, supported by his trance background, he would always maintain his dark, melancholic trademark roots, gaining the recognition of lovers and peers from both genres alike.  These key elements run true through his productions Aspetta (2008), Dolce (2009) and Campagne (2009) also.  After playing various nights in London Ed was looking to make a similar trademark stamp on the scene, in the form of another club night.  He had been yearning for the correct platform to showcase his style and this was encouraged when he met his business partner Ben Hooper.  Ed listened to a set of Ben’s and his organic minimal house sound went hand in hand with Ed’s offering.  They knew that they had a different take on the scene and this partnership would be a unique party for all to pay homage to, not dissimilar to those early days in the Courtyard at Cream.   So ‘Decksavers’ launched on the 27th November 2010.

Nearly one year in, Decksavers has taken London by storm, executing events in Playtime, Public Life, The Russian and Basing House with guests like Glimpse with his legendary LIVE set (Crosstown Rebels/Cadenza/Cocoon), Geddes (Mulletover/Murmur), Natalie Coleman (Mooch), Diego cK (cK Family/Malatoid), TBOY (Ifidota/No Attitude), W10 (Artizan/Prolifica/Godeeva), Mario Conte & Fabio SPZZ (Menomale), Locomosquito (Cafe 1001) to name but a few.  Decksavers also champions younger local talent through their parties.

Ed's Decksavers closing sets events have become trademark with his melodic progressive techno sound and complementing the lighter driving tech house from co-resident Jack Brazzo (Ben), offering the Decksavers faithful a solid all round experience.

Taking things a bit lighter, Deegan & Jack Brazzo have secured a residency at the W Hotel, Leicester Square, where they provide the Sunday Night soundtrack to the masses, holding a Deep House night called Sunday Social.  Harnessing a musical niche in the West End, they have played to the likes of Kelly Rowland, Cee Lo Green, One Direction and JLS, converting them into Deep and Tech House heads for the evening, receiving relentless praise for developing a sound away from the commercially monopolized area that is W1.
