Number 22 brings my lovely Berlin based friend George aka Dugong @deejaydugong. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, he is  the co-organiser of music & events collective @astralvipz, he has an incredible taste & technical skill for dj'ing - which I was lucky enough to witness at the astral vip x imaginary friend party in Berlin last year (incredible party!).

Under astral vip, on top of regular parties, they have a residency @refugeworldwide where you can find a bunch of incredible mixes to sift through. I think George's music is a great reflection of his charismatic, fun personality - a diverse selection of euphoric, deep party bangers. Hope you enjoy the mix as much as I did!

"I recorded this mix on my latest Berlin trip while I was on tour. I wanted this mix to reflect on themes of longing, loss, love, and desire. I’ve recently undergone a lot of personal changes in my life, from relationships and friendships evolving to traveling quite a lot and being away from home. It’s kind of meant to be a hybrid of a playlist/mix I suppose. For me, these songs evoke a certain nostalgia, sadness, and catharsis. But hopefully some hope and joy as well. Lots of vocals and classics like Madonna, as well as some other better-known tracks. I wanted it to be a nice listening experience that's thematic more so than anything else. Could be nice to listen to while you’re at home, out for a drive, cleaning, or just want something non-abrasive to listen to."

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community 
Hmm, I would say be inspired by and connect with other people, nature, life , parties or whatever gets you going, exploring different avenues, but always be true to your own individual sound. The more you make, the more you dance, and the more you mix your sound will find you. Do what makes you happy, practice, dig for your life, and if you work hard enough your time will come bbz. Take time to have fun with your friends ! Coz at the end of the day, that’s all that is really guaranteed in this fickle industry, without selling your soul of course ! And ask yourself, is this for love or money? Money ofc can bring happiness and stability, but shared experiences are worth more. Learn to really love yourself and put your mental health first.

I absolutely recommend getting moulded hearing protection coz the club is sometimes just too damn loud. Let’s make the most of life and what we have, and if you’re blessed with hearing I suggest you cherish it and look after it. You can get cute funky colours and they will become a cute raving accessory. Its also way easier to hear your friends in the club and you won’t need to shout. It means you can enjoy the subs and be closer to the speakers safely. I have a dear friend who is suffering currently and it affects a lot more than just your precious ears lemme tell you.  This doesn’t just apply to DJs, anyone working in a club, or raving. PLEASE !  Theres something in London, the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme, which some people are lucky enough to benefit from, give it a go, its mega discounted, but even if it isn’t.. Treat yourself.
