Planet Of Sound - We Are Together

Haunting, ethereal, emotive, propulsive Guy Gerber and Diddy’s long-awaited collaborative album project 11 11 is at last available to the public for free...

At once a meeting of two worlds, and yet also a dismissal of those signifiers, 11 11 inverts the recent dialogue between the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music, eschewing simple radio friendly factory fare, for darker, richer, deeper soundscapes. 11 11 is not a project aimed at main-stages and masses, but outliers and after-hours.

After three, quite frankly, outstanding releases from Joey Anderson, Innerspace Halflife and Even Tuell, the Parisian label Latency are stepping up their game and releasing their first LP by Mura Oka. This one is due in stores in the next week or two, so keep those eyes peeled!

Mura Oka 'Horizon Rouge' - Boiler Room Debuts

Inspired by his DJ residency at Limelight, beginning in 1993 at the famed the New York venue, the wheels behind David Sumner's Function project began turning. In 1996 the first wave of productions emerged, with his now classic debut on Damon Wild's Synewave label. 

Amidst a booming New York House scene, Sumner watched many producers take the big studio, big budget route towards major labels and pop aspirations. Inspired by his residency at Limelight, and fiercely independent activists like Jeff Mills or the Underground Resistance, Sumner chose techno as a purer artform, an alternate path, and Synewave numbers 24 and 30 were some of the first records to bear the name Function. 

Now, some 18 years later, Infrastructure continues its reissue series of classic Function productions, leading towards the 'Function | Recompiled: Various Works & Pseudonyms, 1995-2012' limited edition box set, due for release in early 2015. 

Both 'F3' and 'F4' are lifted from the F(Q): Function of Bandwidth EP, while 'Shift F1', originally a shorter live session included on the 'F(C): Function Of A Constant' EP, has been edited and extended by label co-partner Ed Davenport aka Inland.

Bringing an understated counterpoint to the EP is Recondite’s subtle yet rich sounding take on Strange Days as he reworks it into a soft and sexy trip that seems to take you on a journey outwards and inwards — all while standing still in that place where words have no meaning. @Sonnymoonmusic are Brooklyn duo Anna Wise and Dane Orr, the dream team who have quietly been releasing albums and sharing stages with the likes of The Roots and Flying Lotus. You might recognise Anna from Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-nominated Good Kid, m.A.A.d city and should definitely listen out for her on his new album To Pimp A Butterfly – she features on several tracks including Institutionalized alongside Bilal and Snoop Dogg and These Walls with Thundercat. Taken from their forthcoming third album, The Courage of Present Times (due for release via @GLOW365 on 24th March) we are pleased to present the premiere of Sonnymoon’s next single. Grains Of Friends is full of @Dirty-Projectors style vocals that dance over a series of clicks, claps, muffled basslines and field recordings that take us back to summertime playtimes. Montréal-based Marie Davidson is something special. Creating dark and ominously sexy synth-laden tracks, the artist weaves her poetry - sometimes English, sometimes French - into the smokey atmosphere as spoken word. Taken from her second LP, Un Autre Voyage (out April 14th on Holodeck Records), Insomnie builds in intensity, layering electronic ladders as you make it through the haze and through another sleepless night. Following Marie's dreamy performance at SXSW, we are honoured to present the premiere of Insomnie and accompany the beauty on her nighttime journey. Join us!

The period of infancy for record labels is often their most definitive. It sets the standard for whats to come, which means there must come a certain degree of quality and precision. Planetary Notions are the London based imprint kicking out divine cosmic techno with just that quality, style and attention to detail needed to launch the label on the path of longevity. The space-themed vinyl-only team had their first release from London-based producer Joe Rolét last April, and just over a year later, the man returns with another slice of rolling tech goodness. Planetary notions 002 kicks off with the galactic Glacier Way and is backed by the deep delight that is Pace Trader.
